Bro, I got a Frankenstein monster at home, I've been trying to install MacOS on an old HP All-in-One for like 2 weeks, the screen is broken, so Im using an Ugee UE12 as a monitor with the 3-in-1 cable, Dell keyboard, Free wolf Mouse (idk, I just bought it for 20 bucks and it is pretty light) also, I'm using an Ethernet cable cuz' MacOS doesn't have any kext (drivers) for my wifi card.
Now I'm trying to make the graphics card work properly cuz' MacOS it's running on vesa mode and that's like a safe mode boot and don't have any graphics acceleration... (╥﹏╥)
I'm alive. ₍₍⚞(˶ˆᗜˆ˵)⚟⁾⁾
I'll tell you a little about my odyssey with Linux distros and my computer (I'll try not to beat around the bush too much) ദ്ദി◝ ⩊ ◜)
To start with, during the second week of April, I had a few days off from college and decided to play around with my storage and boot drives. I was itching to install a Linux distro on a computer, but I wanted it to be a laptop because… I don’t have a desktop at home (˶˃𐃷˂˶)
Anyway, I ended up partitioning my hard drive and installing Mint Linux… But… there was a problem with Mint: it didn’t detect my dedicated graphics card, and I couldn’t control the fan speed. This led me to uninstall Mint, because I spent nearly four days just trying to fix the fan issue (since the computer gets really hot) (˶˃⤙˂˶)
Fast forward a week later, I decided to install Ubuntu instead, because I thought (and I wasn’t wrong) that I could install some proprietary drivers right from the start—and sure enough, I did. So at least that was one less thing to worry about; now all that was left was fan control (¬`‸´¬)
Okay, here’s the thing: the computer is an MSI, and the MSI Control Panel only works on Windows (hmm… why doesn’t that surprise me at all?), so to control it, I installed several apps like Fan Control and McontrolCenter (by the way, it’s awesome XD), but it turns out I needed a special kind of driver (I won’t explain it because even I didn’t understand it). Since I couldn’t install it by cloning the GitHub repository from the terminal, I downloaded it manually and asked ClaudeAI to help me install it (by that point I was already sleepy—it was 2 AM) (╥﹏╥) In the end, I was able to solve both problems because I’m just that awesome ᕙ( • ᗜ • )ᕗ
