One of many things that make him different from Vader is the fact that Kylo is unable to suppress his emotions. It makes him a little more unpredictable but sloppy. Vader’s controlled anger helped increase his power. But Kylo still has moral dilemmas! At least, he did. He may have tossed that out the window seconds after slaying his dear ol’ pops.

Moving was incredibly painful, yet Kylo still pushed himself up in a sitting position. Bad enough he had to be bedridden until the stitches came out!  Kylo didn’t need his underling to witness him in such a weak state. He pushed the pillows up against the headboard for support, getting as comfortable as one could in his condition before addressing the question.
