whiskeysandwords:
found a guy an hour and a half away that sells large raw wood slabs for cheap…coffee table project will be starting soon.
@whiskeysandwords ... finding the wood is only part of the battle. The having it dried, termite free and worked to a fine finish... that's what I get paid to do. Wood is cheap, the know-how and labor after that, that's where things get tricky...

This is a custom made dining table made from steel reinforced concrete. The top is super smooth and protected by a homemade beeswax finish. The table and legs are super sturdy, yet easy to move around your kitchen thanks to the wheels that can lock in place. This concrete dining table is great for a minimalist, industrial feel.
Length, width, height and leg style are customizable.

Sometimes it's good to see what furniture looks like in real people's homes. Well, here's the most recent appreciation photo that a buyer sent me after she purchased the Valatie table. How would you use this table if you bought it?
THE HOOVER IS BACK!
On Sunday I sold the last piece I had. Well, luck have it I came into two more today. Now I have a 73 and a 48 inch slab.
Check out www.patrickcaindesigns.com/product/hoover to find out more.
$500 either size
The sturdy Brooklyn table is more than meets the eye. It's also hangable wall art. The Brooklyn is ideal for small space living or someone who likes to have people over. In either situation, there is always some moment where you either:
A) Need more space
or
B) Need more tables.
If you need more space, pick up the Brooklyn table, fold in the legs, then mount the table easily on the wall. The mounting is a fast process as there are two mounting hooks in the back that meet up with two anchor-supported screws in your wall. For $100 extra, I will design a custom wood or steel face place to act as wall art, there by, covering the screws, when the Brooklyn is being used as a table.
If scenario B is more of your style and you want to give each of your guests a place to put a glass, then just take the Brooklyn (or Brooklyns) off the wall, unfold the hinged legs, and presto, you have another side/end table.
These tables can come with or without bark and the availability of one versus the other will vary. The slabs are about 4" thick, 24"-26" wide. The whole table stands 16."
The table is rather light for its size, making it safe and easy to hang on a wall.
This wood was upcycled from a downed tree in the Los Angeles Urban forest. Before I intercepted it, the tree was headed to a wood chipper. I believe in only upcycling and recycling.
Pale gray handmade cast concrete table top suspended on a brushed steel frame. The cube legs are 1/2″ steel tubing and in total it is 17.5" in all directions.
One cube alone is a great side table. Two next to each other, and you have a mid-sized coffee table. Three in a row, a longer coffee table. While four, displayed as a 2×2 square, fills a space with the raw industrial look perfect for a brick and cement filled loft. Clean lined and modern side table with an industrial edge. 2 available. $250 for the pair - please contact me to arrange.
The Vermont bench or coffee table is simplicity at is finest. The ultra clean design is simple, one slab of pine all the way around. You can literally trace the grain from the bottom of one leg, across the top and down to the other, that’s clean design.
But what makes the Vermont a bit different is how stable it is. Underneath the live edge bench is a countersunk hidden steel skeleton. For the bench to break, you first need to break steel, so give it as much weight and rocking as you want… it’s not going anywhere.
As with nearly all my wood products this pine tree was reclaimed after being downed for some other reason. If I didn’t take it, it would have been headed to a wood chipper. The Los Angeles Urban forest is surprisingly thick, but not limitless, so upcycling is important.
The bench/coffee table is: 52″L x 16″W x 18″H. Priced at just $500 in order to sell it quickly.
If you do not live in LA, contact me about shipping as this only be available for pick up or delivery. I am occasionally in SF, SD or Vegas, so those might also be options for meeting up. But if you live in, say, New York, let me know and I’ll find out what shipping would be.
