Activities
Treadmill:
Running can be wonderful exercise and keeps you healthy as well as provides the freedom of running without actually having to navigate terrain! Dogs need plenty of exercise and walking/running will always be beneficial!
Simon says:
Specifically the game of repeating back a series of colors! Mental stimulation is so important for dogs and what better way than to memorize and repeat? They game can be bought at stores or online but any memory game is good for you
Training:
Set reminders on your phone for certain commands or watch a dog training video! You could also have a silent video with occasional squeaker or clicker sounds and do a task or command when you hear it (ie: pick up some trash and throw it out, drink water, sit, stand, etc!)
On that note, practice delayed gratification, an important skill every dog must face. This keeps dogs and owners safe when needing to prepare for uncomfortable situations and staying grounded, it's also good for preventing resource guarding! Take a moment before doing or eating something, allowing yourself to focus on staying there in the moment. Once the time is up, you can go for it! Increase the time gradually!! Dont wait too long through, patience is important but so is a warm meal
Obstacle course:
Whether you're an active Aussie or show breed prepping for that blue ribbon, an obstacle course is sure to be a fine source of exercise and enrichment! Setting up cones or other objects on the floor and maneuvering through and around them, putting a broom on some boxes and leaping over, or even just going to the park or gym and giving yourself a structured path and timing can be enough to feel the wind in your fur or the adoring cheer of the crowd
Enrichment (food)
Lick cups:
Add some yogurt, peanut butter, pumpkin puree, apple sauce, or a creamy broth to a container and freeze! Licking is a wonderful way to enrich and keep busy, as well as having a very calming or soothing effect. While a small sauce cup works, another option is a silicone mold or cupcake liner!
Note: I've tried this before with some plastic sauce cups, it's better to line the sides of whatever you're using, and very helpful of the mixture is thicker. Adding some peanut butter to some yogurt helped!
Licorice root:
Rawhides can be damaging or indigestible so these alternatives can help clean teeth and provide the sensation of chewing! They can be flavored as well but some folks aren't a fan of the natural or added flavors
Snuffle mat:
Sniffing is a dogs best friend, pop some beef treats, cereal, or anything with a strong smell and let that nose go to work!
Lick mat:
Whether you're craving savory or sweet, a lick mat can bring you some dedicated enjoyment without the long wait time! Used frozen or not, plenty of combos to choose from! Yogurt with granola and honey, gravy and bacon bits, peanut butter and chocolate chips. The possibilities are as endless as your taste buds allow!
Bonus: ice cube trays work as a slow feeder as well!
Treats
Savory:

This was some oats, peanut butter, maple syrup, spices, and maybe vanilla and sugar, not sure what anymore but it's pretty good!! Even better when is sits in the fridge for a bit and the oats soften a little :3
A v short list of things that dogs and humans can both use/eat!🐶🐾
I've been wanting these doggy shampoo/soap bars for so long, they are for people as well but a lot of their products are marketed for dogs :3 Affirming and safe ^^
They are coated in wax right after they're made to keep them fresh and use real fruits for some of their ingredients!
{Mutt Fresh}
The person who makes these treats (truffles) has a few videos of her eating them, only the large yellow one tho!! (banana and pumpkin flavor)
She uses superfoods to dye them cute colors and uses real meat in order to keep the ingredients clean!! They have a yogurt shell as well!
{Pearl & Paw}
If you guys know of any other products like these, safe for the body but affirming, plz lmk!!!
Hardest part about being a dog is craving a bacon and peanut butter cup milkshake, I've never even had bacon in a shake and five guys is tempting me!! 😭
You know, I don't know if I still mesh with "Animalurge" (post/info on my account) I feel basically the same, the definition fits, but I feel like there's got to be a more recognized name for how I feel. It's so hard to pinpoint 😮💨 A lot has changed in the last few years amongst alterhumans, many new terms and identities, I'm lost in it! Idek how else to articulate what I experience. Just, sometimes I'm a dog, and I think much like one, and sometimes (like recently) I am a wolf, and it's definitely influenced by a hyperfix, but I still see myself as wolf adjacent? Sometimes it's radio silent, and others I'm just a puppy. It's gonna be on my mind for a while, until I figure out what I relate with most, but I might just be wandering for a bit
animalurge flag !
“Animalurge represents a profound desire to embody various animal qualities, encompassing physical attributes like ears, tails, and instincts, as well as connections to the natural habitats where these animals reside”
flag made by me, term coined by @pawrty-time
I have been in search of a term that best describes my feelings and I honestly feel like I still haven't found it, but having something that feels free to me is what I'm most excited about.
I am not bashing or denouncing any terms or history, I am just having something that feels lest restrictive in my journey. If you'd like to also use this term, feel free. This was made with me in mind and within like an hour so it's got some flaws.
I'll be using this term in tandem with therian/otherhearted/otherkin/etc, since it's essentially an amalgamation of many things.
❅ Animalurge:
Animalurge represents a profound desire to embody various animal qualities, encompassing physical attributes like ears, tails, and instincts, as well as connections to the natural habitats where these animals reside.
Individuals with Animalurge experience comfort and a sense of freedom when envisioning themselves with these animal qualities or as animals. These feelings can fluctuate in intensity and may be associated with a diverse array of animals. This term encapsulates a fusion of experiences often found in therianthropy, otherheartedness, and regression.
It's an integrated feeling that can be triggered by specific circumstances such as watching documentaries about the chosen animal, encountering related foods, engaging in specific activities, or immersing themselves in nature or related gear.
Individuals can choose to define their experience as identifying "with" or "as" an animal or neither/both. Animalurge is a term designed to encompass a wide range of experiences that may or may not align with existing media representations.
❅ -Lurge:
The suffix "-lurge" is used to denote specific Animalurge identities.
❅ Examples:
❅ Parker is an Animalurge. They are a wolflurge. With a strong yearning to possess biological wolf traits and instincts, Parker finds a sense of freedom in nature and takes pleasure in daydreaming about life as a wolf and "acting" like one. These feelings are a consistent part of their daily thoughts and experiences.
❅ Toby is also an Animalurge, specifically a catlurge. Toby's desires and visions for their catself are highly specific. They imagine themselves as a dilute tortoiseshell house cat. These catlurge feelings arise periodically, typically once a month, often triggered by posts or media related to cats.
❅ Minty is a multi-faceted Animalurge, encompassing broad rabbitlurge connections with all variants of rabbits, deeply routed in her being. Her primary focus is rabbitlurge, a feeling of a mind intertwined with these creatures. Additionally, she is a cockatiellurge, which she considers more for fun, keeping it in mind when swinging on a swing or enjoying sunflower seeds. Her mouselurge identity is derived from a general interest in mice, representing a blend of various aspects that change in intensity throughout the year.
I'm aware that is probably really confusing to read, or just looks like a jumbled mess. That's alright, I'll put some more effort into this some other time. I am not scanning this for errors rn ^^"
I wish my teeth were strong, healthy, and sharp. I want to tear stuff up, bite people (/aff), shake stuff around, wag my tail, bark, all of it. I want head pats so badly it's painful :(
Having my hair in sections feels like floppy puppy ears. That plus Puppy Chow (very sweet btw) is an amazing combo. I feel like a dog just lazing around on a big bed watchin tv
I miss nature. I hope I can visit again this summer, reconnect. I love technology, don't get me wrong, but there's that special feeling of being surrounded by trees that you can't just will into existence. It's constructed by years of the earth simply being the earth. 🌲🌿🌱
