Pax6 Positive

Pax6, a.k.a. paired box gene 6, is the human neuroectoderm cell fate determinant. Which means, if your cells begin to express Pax6, they have the capacity to differentiate in the neuroectodermal lineage and, if lucky, become neural cells: astrocytes, purkinje cells, dendrites and ganglions, among others. I can't force Pax6 expression in a whole lot of cells, send them down the neural lineage and eventually regrow myself some neurons. But what I can do is pick up little seeds- images, words, little thoughts here and there- and hope that these "determinants" will, like Pax6, lead to growth, differentiation, and change.
