The records management chapters have helped me better understand how to manage my records and electronic records in the following ways...
Different ways to manage paper records is with:
Storage cabinet, file folders, file guides, and file folders.
Procedures for filing:
Inspecting, indexing, coding, sorting, and preparing cross-reference when needed.
Different ways to manage electronic records is with:
Automated, individual, database records.
Managed through the four phases of records life cycle:
Creation and storage, use the distribution, maintenance, and disposition.
Both ways to store have ups and downs. Paper is slowly being pushed out of home and office but in the end electronic storage saves space and time.
