First session of the day and a rider was seriously injured, they were flown out via helicopter to a nearby hospital. Hopefully they are taken care of and can return to their family. Here are a couple of shots from Kevin while he, and a couple other riders waited on top of turn 5 while the red flag was out.
Oil change for this weekends festivities. Tomorrow practicing at Thunderhill with z2 track days then AFM Round 3 races Saturday and Sunday.
2015 AFM Round 2 @ Sonoma Raceway
We arrived Friday night and walked around the pits while it was quiet and peaceful. Then it was time for bed.
Woke up early in the morning to get the bike and gear ready for tech. To our surprise, tech was actually a lot easier than perceived. After passing tech, and getting a transponder, we put the bike on warmers and Kevin suited up for practice session 1. Mind you, this was Kevin’s first time riding this track so he had quite a bit of learning to do.
Here we see Dan Sewell #19 giving Kevin some tips and advice before heading out for practice
And pictured here, CEO of Precision Combustion, Everton Edgar helping get the PCRacing R6 ready for practice while rider Kevin Edgar gets suited up.
Making sure hot tire pressures are correct according to the guidelines laid out by CT Racing.
Yup, good thing they have practice starts for the beginners, because stalling your bike and forgetting how to start it, is what NOT to do...
Then it came time for the first race, Clubman Middleweight, ended up finishing 20th out of 36 with a best lap time of 1:56, here are some pictures (via 4theriders) followed by an on board video.
After that was finished it was time to rest, relax, and hangout.
Here we have Kevin explaining to his friend, Gurk #700, how it felt coming into turn 11 with the rear end of his bike sliding.
For the next day of the race weekend, Kevin rode in the Novice 600 Production class, which was a lot tougher for him compared to the previous days race.
Ended up finishing 12th out of 19, with a best lap time of 1:55
The weekend was a great success, very glad the bike was running well, fortunate to not crash, and most important of all, HAVE FUN!!
But it really would not be the same without the support of our friends, family, and sponsors! Thanks all!!
Here is a little look behind the scenes. Racing footage coming soon.

Grandma showing us how it's done!! Pictures and videos of our time at AFM Round 2 @ Sonoma Raceway coming soon.
Over the weekend kevinedgar prepped his bike for the upcoming AFM round 2 race this weekend at Sonoma raceway. instead of helping, ramboone spent his time behind a camera and put this little video together. Enjoy
Well, we ending up missing round 1 due to not being able to complete the bike in time. But to bounce back, the bike is officially ready to hit the grid this weekend at Sonoma Raceway.
After all that work, 5 hours of sleep over the last 48+ hours. We will not be able to attend round 1 due to not finishing safety wire.
Late night trip to Sunol Super Stop for some 101 octane for the R6. Hoping to test ride around 10am.
Thanks to items being back ordered. We get to put the bike together in one night, off to Button Willow Raceway tomorrow for Round 1 of the AFM Series!
New Pirellis and the rest of the parts came in today. Going to be a fun time putting the bike together all in a day come Friday.
First official start and test drive of Rambo's SR powered 240SX.
The day Rambo's single cam powered 240sx grew up...
You may have seen this car discreetly featured on our blog, but the time has come for a proper introduction. Rambo has been driving this 1990 240SX hatchback for quite some time now, with the stock single cam KA24E. He looked forward to having a SR20 swap, but finding a decent priced setup was hard to come by. That is until Kevin decided to part out his drift car to pursue motorcycle racing, as you have seen featured on this blog.
Here's where the fun starts, a couple weeks ago we pulled the stock motor and popped in the S14 SR20DET accompanied by some decent parts. After slight tinkering and some zip-tie surgery, we have the car running decently enough for now.
Over the winter we will be buttoning up the car prepping it for the 2015 season with it's new powerplant! Most people turn the 240SX into a basic drift car but we will be pushing this project in the time attack aspect of racing.
~ Stay tuned and enjoy! ~
Footage of Kevin on his last session of the day, Saturday Nov 22nd 2014.
Make sure to watch in full 1080p for best quality, to feel like you are on board ;)
Despite wet, cold conditions, and a nearly bald rear tire, Kevin was still moving around the 5 mile course at a decent pace. Very nice way to end the season... Over the winter the bike will be prepped for race day. ~March 21/22 at Button Willow Raceway
