âYouâre welcome.â They replied softly. âIâm glad too. I upset a lot of people by persevering this long. Hopefully, theyâll come around when I give up.â They didnât sound like they believed what they said, though.
âSo thank you. For taking me here and taking my journal and talking with me. Itâs been fun.â They murmured quietly.
He nodded slowly, âOf course.â A tiny smile crossed his face at the human.
He held their notebook in his hands, glancing down at it for a second before looking back up at them, âWell, um⊠Youâre almost there.â He stopped in front of the elevator, ââŠAfter this, you just need to walk the pathway along New Home. The Kingâs castle will just be up ahead.â He smiled a little sadder now, âI⊠I-I guess this is goodbye?â
They stared at the elevator, hand hesitating over the button. This was it. One short elevator ride, a walk, and then theyâd be in front of the king. It would probably only be thirty minutes until then. Thirty minutes until the end. What a thought that was! Cora took a moment to marvel over their own thoughts and reached up to wipe their eyes.
âI donât really like goodbyes. They sound really final. So, see you later?â
