It’s weird to grow up in a family where you know you’re loved but you don’t feel loved. And then later in adulthood you understand how almost impossible it seems to cross that distance and let yourself experience closeness, how otherworldly love feels now and how love feels unbearable at times. You flinch when someone tries to wholeheartedly love you. And over and over you see so clearly how you cannot be loved unless it's from afar and love is mixed with that familiar sensation of distance and coldness.

i love how delusional some articles of clothing are, like you read the tag and its like “hand wash only/tumble dry on low” son you are a cotton tshirt. youre going in the warsh and whatever happens in there is in gods hands

This is a “cover your ass” technique that clothing companies use when the fabric a garment is made out of doesn’t pass all of the testing. They can be like “sorry, we did warn you.”

And even though I know this, I still don’t hand wash or dry clean anything I own.

I’m hoping that I could eventually afford the equipment that would allow me to make purses like these again.

I made these purses while I was working in a footwear sample room. While I was sewing shoes, I sometimes had downtime to make whatever purse I could dream up out of excess material. 

In the center is my go-to everyday messenger bag. It has pockets on either side for lipgloss and my cellphone. I lined it with an old H&M skirt. I plan to make upcycling/recycling a part of my business…I have to admit, partly because I have so many old clothes lying around.

The other two purses were in a way part of an imaginary line that I was designing in my head at that time. I was thinking of organic shapes (curves over angles), mesh inserted into cut-outs, and contrast topstitching. I got compliments for the green and blue purse, and a few requests even. The pink was my favorite for party nights mostly because of its odd, alien look and bright colors. It also looks great under blacklight.
