As a non canon and rarepair shipper, I'm used to inhabiting the smaller, less threaded corners of fandom, and I'm fine with that. It might be quiet, but it's also cozy, and I enjoy the company of like-minded individuals and the low drama environment. If I wanted to belong to the it group, I could just go with the flow, but I don’t because that's not what I like. I presume this is how other rarepair shippers feel for the most part. That's why I'm honestly puzzled as every so often we get questions asking why we ship what we ship instead of the fandom juggernaut. Is it so baffling for others to realize other people in their fandom genuinely prefer other options?

And since I'm on this topic, for the life of me, I will never understand the need for some fans to comment on a fanfic or fanart that they alegedly liked it but wish the ship depicted was...you guessed it, the canon juggernaut ship. To me, it feels like backhanded criticism, as if the artist was transgressing some unspoken fandom rule with their choice instead of creating art for the "right" ship. How about if you don't like the subject, you keep your opinion to yourself and allow those who do to enjoy it?

I know this is probably an old topic, and I'm not adding anything new, but I just felt like venting. Don't mind the cat lady yelling at the cloud.
