No, I am not 'hoarding craft supplies.' I am sourcing materials for a very big project that will be revealed to me at a later date- perhaps in a dream.
This post legitimately knocked me out of a doomscroll. Had to put down my phone and everything and stare at a wall.
I really do regret my inaction the most. Every time. All of my future problems are always caused by things I failed to do in the present. And every time, I get so mad at past Me for not even trying because Iâm so afraid to fail.
Like. Damn. Didnât expect pixel art of some planets to hit me so hard.

Babe, you okay? you reblogged âand we were nice to each otherâ like 12 times again
A Stanford dean on skills every 18 year old should have
1. An 18-year-old must be able to talk to strangers â faculty, deans, advisers, landlords, store clerks, human resource managers, coworkers, bank tellers, health care providers, bus drivers, mechanicsâin the real world.
The crutch: We teach kids not to talk to strangers instead of teaching the more nuanced skill of how to discern the few bad strangers from the mostly good ones. Thus, kids end up not knowing how to approach strangers â respectfully and with eye contact â for the help, guidance, and direction they will need out in the world.
2. An 18-year-old must be able to find his way around a campus, the town in which her summer internship is located, or the city where he is working or studying abroad.
The crutch: We drive or accompany our children everywhere, even when a bus, their bicycle, or their own feet could get them there; thus, kids donât know the route for getting from here to there, how to cope with transportation options and snafus, when and how to fill the car with gas, or how to make and execute transportation plans.
3. An eighteen-year-old must be able to manage his assignments, workload, and deadlines.
The crutch: We remind kids when their homework is due and when to do itâ sometimes helping them do it, sometimes doing it for them; thus, kids donât know how to prioritize tasks, manage workload, or meet deadlines, without regular reminders.
4. An 18-year-old must be able to contribute to the running of a house hold.
The crutch: We donât ask them to help much around the house because the checklisted childhood leaves little time in the day for anything aside from academic and extracurricular work; thus, kids donât know how to look after their own needs, respect the needs of others, or do their fair share for the good of the whole.
5. An 18-year-old must be able to handle interpersonal problems.
The crutch: We step in to solve misunderstandings and soothe hurt feelings for them; thus, kids donât know how to cope with and resolve conflicts without our intervention.
6. An 18-year-old must be able to cope with ups and downs of courses and workloads, college- level work, competition, tough teachers, bosses, and others.
The crutch: We step in when things get hard, finish the task, extend the deadline, and talk to the adults; thus, kids donât know that in the normal course of life things wonât always go their way, and that theyâll be okay regardless.
7. An 18-year-old must be able to earn and manage money.
The crutch: They donât hold part-time jobs; they receive money from us for what ever they want or need; thus, kids donât develop a sense of responsibility for completing job tasks, accountability to a boss who doesnât inherently love them, or an appreciation for the cost of things and how to manage money.
8. An 18-year-old must be able to take risks.
The crutch: Weâve laid out their entire path for them and have avoided all pitfalls or prevented all stumbles for them; thus, kids donât develop the wise understanding that success comes only after trying and failing and trying again (a.k.a. âgritâ) or the thick skin (a.k.a. âresilienceâ) that comes from coping when things have gone wrong.
Remember: our kids must be able to do all of these things without resorting to calling a parent on the phone. If theyâre calling us to ask how, they do not have the life skill.
Someone on here once pointed out how whenever beauty vloggers on youtube do those, âmy boyfriend does my makeupâ challenges; the guy never seems to know what heâs doing, he doesnât know what contouring is or highlighting and everyone thinks heâs just being a dude but really it shows that he obviously doesnât watch his girlfriendâs videos that sheâs clearly passionate about making, if he canât understand something as simple as a primer and that really sucks
I also think about how wild it is that women get mocked and made fun of for pretending to be interested in sports and other things that are typically understood as male interests, and it seems like weâre the weird ones for doing that, but itâs crazy how thereâs no pressure on men to be interested in, or at least understand anything considered feminine, like, wouldnât you want to have knowledge about something your significant other is interested in?
I see memes where the guy is shopping for what to get his girlfriend and someone suggests a highlighter and dude goes out and gets sharpie highlighters! Then people think itâs hilarious, because heâs just a guy being a dude y'know but if a girl doesnât know shit about basketball, or football, or video games, or cars, or comics or whatever else sheâs an idiot
this. the. REALEST. POST. on here !!!!!!

Thereâs one beauty âguruâ I watch regularly on Youtube. Her name is Tati Westbrook. One of the things I absolutely LOVE about her videos is that her husband regularly makes cameos and tries out products with her, gives her feedback and opinions when sheâs reviewing stuff, and actually DID A SHIT TON OF RESEARCH when they did the âHusband does my makeupâ thing. Like, heâll regularly go âoh, you were wearing that in your other video!â or âI saw that product, can I review it too?â Heâs not by any means âintoâ makeup himself, but he clearly loves her to bits and supports her and encourages her in all her endeavors. And it pains me that this is so noteworthy. https://www.youtube.com/user/GlamLifeGuru is her channel, if anyone is curious.
I donât wear make-up myself, but it really hurts my heart when this kind of thing happens in relationships. Â My mom started playing WoW just to spend more time with the rest of her family, but my dad wont even go with her to see a movie that she was an extra in.
