Pearl’s staring out the window, watching the world go by, lost in thought. The sky shifts with soft hues, and the distant hum of life continues, but her mind drifts elsewhere—to places she’s been, places she dreams of. Some far and unfamiliar, others comforting and known. "If you could escape for a moment and be anywhere in the world right now—where would you go, and why?"

This was so not happening. This was a disaster!! Literally, why could nothing go right in her life? It's like the universe had it out for her. Why on the one day she wasn't dressed to kill did her least favourite, most tragic, ex-girlfriend have to appear? Stasia could have screamed. She still might actually. Especially if she came over - please do not come over - and said anything. It would simply be too much.
And then came a bright, beaming, blonde answer to Stasia's rapidly devolving despair. Fuck it! "Hi. Listen, there's an emergency and I'm going to need you to kiss me. Like, now." @pearlprinceton
Pearl's night was not going as planned. She had spent hours getting ready, picking out the perfect outfit, rehearsing conversations in her head, and envisioning how the evening would unfold. But none of that seemed to matter now. She sat alone at the dimly lit corner table, the candle flickering between untouched drinks. The minutes stretched into an hour, and the realization sank in—she had been stood up.
A hollow feeling gnawed at her chest. Disappointment weighed heavily on her shoulders, not just because of the missed date, but because she had dared to hope this night might be different. That maybe, for once, things would go smoothly. But no—same story, different night. She let out a slow breath, gathering herself.
Just as she contemplated heading home, a hurried figure approached her. The urgency in their voice snapped her out of her thoughts. There was an emergency. For a moment, confusion clouded her mind. An emergency? Who could it be? Then, the pieces clicked into place. Of course. Ex-girlfriend. It had to be.
Pearl rose from her seat, smoothing down her dress as determination replaced her earlier dismay. If it was who she thought it was, this situation was delicate. She had to handle it carefully. She gave a small, knowing nod, her face a mask of calm resolve. The weight of the moment settled between them.
Then, without hesitation, Pearl leaned in. The kiss came naturally—confident, deliberate, and filled with unspoken intent. She meant it, or at least, she made it look that way. No room for doubt. If this was what it took, then so be it. It was all for the greater good.

Pearl gingerly carried her boxes into her new apartment, her excitement palpable as she envisioned turning the space into a cozy retreat before her first day at BRO Corp. One of the heavier boxes burst open as she maneuvered it, and her carefully organized yarn collection spilled out in a tangle. Among the soft strands, a bright yellow ball of yarn caught her eye, a sentimental gift from her ex-girlfriend, Lacey. Focused on salvaging the precious yarn, Pearl was completely unaware of an oncoming car speeding toward her. In the nick of time, a stranger rushed forward and pulled her out of harm's way, averting a potential disaster.
"Goodness, gracious, yarn it!" Pearl exclaimed, catching herself before using a more colorful expression. Her grandmother's strict emphasis on propriety still had a strong influence on her. "Oh, um, thank you," she stammered, turning to face her rescuer. "Can I buy you a cup of coffee as a token of my gratitude?"
