Do you think Haymitch ever felt guilty for never taking care of Burdock's family after he died. Did he ever talked with Astraeid after that? Did he came over to say he's sorry about her loss? Did he knew about her shutdown or the fact that her kids had no food to put on the table? After the reaping he must have realized that Katniss is severly malnourished, and it was kinda his fault. If he wasn't too busy with the bottle, he might have realized that his best friend's little girl is starving to death, and he might have been able save her from that. He's a Hunger Games victor. Out of all the people in 12 he had the most resources to do that, but he didn't. He never even knew.
