Roy returns to a computer near you

Hi everyone, this is Helen.

I'm currently getting ready to start a series of one shot comics about Roy Shannon. They will not be on this blog, but for the first few months I will be promoting the updates on this blog and my personal blog. 

The comic series is called Coppertown, and it centers around Roy at age 19-27. It will start as a series of one shot pages and very short stories, which I hope will yield a long form story in time. 

It will start before the new year, and update on a basis of one page a week.

You'll be hearing more about it soon, with the coming launch.

“Well I’m not dead yet.”

She chuckles, finishing off the third beer. 

” ‘s a good sign, I’d say.” She fishes for her cigarette case and pulls one out, holding the case out as a silent offering.

“Kent’s?” He asks, hoping they’re his usual brand.

[boozebimbosandbreezers]

“You bet.” She holds the cigarette in her mouth as she speaks, lighting it  before taking a few puffs.

"God love ya," he takes one and leans over her lighter to start it.

Doxy: Invite him out.

“Well I’m not dead yet.”

She chuckles, finishing off the third beer.

"Kent's?" He asks, hoping they're his usual brand.

“It would be even worse if I couldn’t talk,” Roy smiles humorlessly.

“Yeah, you wouldn’t even make it a day without talking.” She gives him a teasing smile, and pats his hand lightly.

He moves his hand away, but manages a smile. 

“Better that we not think about it.”

Doxy frowns. She was only teasing of course, and he doesn’t usually react like this when she takes shots at him. But she shrugs it off, and decides to change the subject.

“So… Work, still treating you well?”

"Well I'm not dead yet."

Doxy: Invite him out.

“It would be even worse if I couldn’t talk,” Roy smiles humorlessly.

“Yeah, you wouldn’t even make it a day without talking.” She gives him a teasing smile, and pats his hand lightly.

"Better that we not think about it."

“Not much. Keeping an eye out for Bawdy.”

“Mm, she needs out of that place. Poor thing’s gonna lose it soon.”

“Meh,” he waves a hand, polishing off his second beer. “She’s a big girl. She’ll find something to do.”

“Aw, you’d be bored out of your mind too if you were in a hospital for a month.” She rolls her eyes. “Anyone would be.”

"It would be even worse if I couldn't talk," Roy smiles humorlessly.

“Not much. Keeping an eye out for Bawdy.”

“Mm, she needs out of that place. Poor thing’s gonna lose it soon.”

"Meh," he waves a hand, polishing off his second beer. "She's a big girl. She'll find something to do."

“Wives tale, just go to town there.”

She rolls her eyes. “Just drink your drink.” Even if he actually had any grays in his beard, she’s got a liiiittle too much alcohol in her to properly go plucking at hairs. 

“So, what’ve you been up to, hm?”

"Not much. Keeping an eye out for Bawdy."

“No, no, I definitely see some silver in all that red.” Of course, she’s lying through her teeth. But it’s always a fun past time to tease Roy about his beard.

“Here,” he thrusts his chin out, “Pluck ‘em out for me, huh?”

“Y’know, they say if you pluck one, two more grow in its place.” She snickers. “You sure about that?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he smiles.

“I thiiink I see a little grey in that beard of yours, too~” She grins stands beside him, pretending to take a closer look.

“Nope, I’m getting oooold.” She sighs over her third bottle. “So how was your day, hm?”

“Can’t complain. I don’t age.”

“Oh, really now? Are those wrinkles around your eyes there just in my imagination?” She snickers, gesturing towards his face.

He shrugs. 

“I wasn’t much to look at anyhow.”

“Oh, ‘s a cryin’ shame. You’re always something to look at, y’know.” She takes another sip of her beer, smiling to herself at the thought of a beardless Roy.

“I shaved it,” he says, gesturing with his beer. “Smooth as a baby’s backside. Too bad you missed it.” He smiles at her agan.

She gives an over-dramatic gasp, placing a hand over her mouth. “The great Roy Shannon, beardless! It must’ve been quite the sight.” Doxy grins. “Wouldn’t happen to have any pictures, would you baby?”

He shrugs. 

"I wasn't much to look at anyhow."
