Bagan, Myanmar. June 2016. This amazing place isn’t a UNESCO world heritage site, only because of some dodgy restoration work that went on on the ruins. Despite that, it’s a magical place.. over 2,000 ruined temples across the planes intermingled with fields and trees. I spent four days roaming and staring in awe at the place all day every day and, as was my mood for the vast majority of my time in Asia, I was blissfully happy for every minute of it.. a happiness that you can only really get from being barefoot atop a building taking in scenes with no worries, responsibilities or deadlines. Hung my first canvas today, almost 2 years after taking the photo. Yangon, Myanmar. May, 2016. This guy sat behind me entirely cloaked in his robe for the train journey, probably sleeping, maybe avoiding my camera. But he gave me a smirk through the rain and the window as I was leaving and finally got a clear shot of him. Drove over 2,000km in 6 days on dirt, gravel and a couple of tarmac roads on a beautifully desolate volcanic island! Hiking up to waterfalls and viewpoints and glaciers, all the while this lad is on crutches (I'd to run a few on my own so he wasn't left waiting too long..). And to be fair to him, he only complained most of the time.. Great little adventure holiday with the little brother. Alice you babe!! Very few people get as lucky as we got. We've seen Aurora Borealis three nights of the last three. Met a woman who'd been here 3 weeks and only saw a faint shimmer one time! Last night it was properly dancing above our heads in greens, purples and yellows literally lighting up the sky and shimmering, flowing across it. I just stood in awe and stared (and took a load of pics..). Befuddling. Incredible. Awesome.
