So, I is watching Ai No Kotodama
Favorite Japanese BL
Ai No Kotodama (2007)
Yasuka Saito as Miyako Tachibana
Hidenori Tokuyama as Shinya Otani
Director: Satoshi Kaneda
Hidenori and Yasuka today
Ai No Kotodama
I just finished Ai no Kotodama (Words of Devotion).
Beautiful movie, I originally watched it for Hidenori Tokuyama, and I was not disappointed. It is relatively low budget, but well written. It explores jealousy in a wonderful way. Love isn't reasonable. It's unexplainable, pointless. Love is an emotion you can't control.
Words of Devotion is not melodramatic, it's realistic. It portrays the characters in a way that they seem realistic. It's cheesy, but not hard to watch. They struggle with being queer in the late 2000's. They fight, they are jealous. It features two, more feminine, men, wearing jewelry, appearing more androgynous.
Otani believed that Yuki was more appealing than him. Not only did she have a "sex appeal", but also a wonderful, selfless personality. She found joy in seeing those she loved happy, especially in the case of Otani and Tachibana. Ultimately she loved to see them happy, to be included in their joy. Otani thought that Tachibana would leave him for her, someone more sociable, more like himself. Logically that would make sense. Logically, Otani not liking Yuki would mean he wouldn't be as fond of Tachibana. He's quiet, it doesn't make any sense, but that is love.
Love is pointless, love doesn't exist within the realm of what we as humans can control. Love is an emotion that you cannot fight, you cannot choose, you can only accept. You can only speak your words of devotion, and live in the moment.
Overall: 8/10. I enjoyed it a lot as a fan of more light watches. I recommend a lot :)
SV shower thoughts again
Knowing NYY's tendencies to contribute to conversations in the worst ways possible, How much of SJ's "allegations" with NYY came from conversations that went something like:
Peak Lords: "So Ning Shizhi, what do you think of Shen Qingqiu as a teacher?" NYY: "OMG My Shizun loves kids!! He is especially nice to girls! (+ 100 more horribly worded compliments I can't think of) :DDDD"
Peak Lords: ... 🚨🚓🚨🚓🚨🚓🚨????????
all jokes aside, I think NYY would actually accidentally screw over SJ like this. Considering what she unintentionally did for LBH with the best intentions.
