Chinese Grammar: 非...不可
in chinese, you can say Facebook by just saying 脸书 liǎnshū, which literally translates to face and book, or you can use the more fun name 非死不可 fēi sǐ bùkě
the thing about 非死不可 is that it doubles as a pun that means “[you] must die” by using the 非…不可 fēi… bùkě grammar pattern
this grammar pattern is used to emphasize that something must be done or that it must be someone
subject+非+verb phrase+不可
我没有干净的盘子,非洗碗不可。[Wǒ méiyǒu gānjìng de pán wǎn, fēi xǐ wǎn bùkě]
I don’t have clean plates, so I must do the dishes.
妈妈犯病了,你非回家不可。[Māmā fànbìng le, nǐ fēi huí jiā bùkě]
Mom fell ill. You must come home.
sorry there are only two examples im super tired and having trouble thinking but i’ll try to add more late
if you have any questions or corrections just shoot me a message
