Gwen couldn’t think of the last time she had stepped foot in Hogsmeade. Most likely near a decade ago when she was still in school. It didn’t help that she had been living and working within Muggle communities until recently. As she walked through the crowd, she kept her eyes open for something to drink. The face that she had to put down her blood status when she filled out the Ministry’s Census had left a funny taste in her mouth and she was hoping firewhiskey would solve that problem.
Nothing good came when someone asked for her blood status. How many fights had she gotten in during Hogwarts because some pureblood thought they were better than her? Sure she had better control of her temper now, and this was under the guise of something official, but she still felt the same rage building deep in her stomach.
Spotting on of the drink carts, she picked up her pace and wove her way through the crowd. She was nearly there when she felt herself collide with another human. Staggering back a few steps, she quickly caught herself before falling to the ground.
“Sorry, wasn’t looking where I was going.” She muttered, unusually apologetic.

if Nellie was honest, she hated just about everything this event stood for, and having to do the planning for it made her feel sick at times, especially with how dangerous a list like this was in the wrong hands. Still, Nellie had a job to do, in more capacities than one, and she was nothing if not dutiful. Frankly, Nellie was certain this would have happened with or without her part - they would have found someone else. She had at least helped make it non mandatory for ministry officials, though she knew several work places had demanded it as well. Still, her hope was that she’d be able to get control of the list once it was made, and ensure it ended up in the right hands, and far away from those that want to do harm with it.
a break was everything she needed for the time being. She needed time away for a moment, and thankfully, she was due for a break. Nellie hadn’t been paying close enough attention though, and she ended up bumping into someone. ‘ oh, merlin I’m so sorry, ‘ she murmured, reaching out a hand to help steady the other person. Realizing it was Gwen, she gave her a soft smile, ‘ nice to see you, Gwen. ‘
internally she winced at the greeting, knowing there wasn’t really any other option for any of them. Given the choice, she wouldn’t be here either but she knew there wasn’t a choice to be made. As such, she was trying to make the best of it, as much as she possibly could. ‘ have you gotten a drink yet? ‘ she asked, ready to offer to get her just that.
‘ don’t be sorry, it was an accident and my fault as well, ‘ she smiled, waving her off.
