Nell was almost always searching for an excuse to get out of the house, though she rarely followed through with her plans, in favor of getting a little extra sleep or spending time on the couch with her daughter. Not to mention, between work and school, she was drained - she hardly had the energy to do anything even when she wanted to. But, she always made time for her sister. That would never change, no matter how difficult life became. âIâve beenâŠ. exhausted.â She admitted with a soft sigh, though she was certain Prissy had probably been expecting such an answer. The bags under her eyes were dark, and she was much quieter than usual. It was as though being a parent had both given Nell a new meaning in life, as well as drained any sign of life from her being, and some days it was more noticeable than others. âBenny took Molls for the day, a coupleâa days ago, but I feel like I canât catch up on anything. I had to turn in a paper late the other day, after half-assing it at work, Iâm barely making it to the inn on time, and I canât remember the last time Iâve had more than four hours of sleep in one day.â She confessed. âI love her, more than anything, you know that.â She pointed out. âBut, I feel like Iâm drowning lately.â She wouldnât tell this to anyone else, but she trust Prissy with her life. âWhat about you? Tell me your week has been better?â She asked softly. âAre things any easier with your roommate? I know you mentioned she was having a rough time.â
Looking across at her sister, Prissy couldnât help the small frown from forming on her face as she listened to Nell speak of how drained she felt. As naive and rather clueless as Prissy was in many ways to the world around her, one thing she knew with absolute certainty was her sister, and just looking at the older girl, she could tell how tired and wiped out she was. Nell didnât even have to tell her; the way she carried herself these days, as if she had no energy for anything other what was required of her on a daily basis was a tell tale sign. âHave you thought that maybe youâre stretching yourself a bit too thin, too quickly?â she asked, her blue eyes sparkling with concern for Nellâs well-being. She did just have a baby six months ago, and honestly, Prissy was surprised at how quickly Nell jumped back into things after Molly was born. âI know you want the best for Molly, but perhaps taking a break from school, even if itâs just for a single semester, might help lighten the load a bit? School will always be there and itâs not like you wouldnât be able to return at a later date,â she suggested, trying to find a solution to help ease her sisterâs weariness. âMy weekâs been busy, mostly with the various art projects I have going on at the moment, but thatâs how I like it, staying busy.â At the mention of Leona, her frown only deepened as she thought of her friend and roommate. âSheâsâŠwell, sheâs up and about again, and thatâs great, but she is so far from okay that I donât even think she realizing how unwell she is.â She loved Leona dearly, having known the girl for well over ten years at this point, so it pained her greatly to see one of her closest friends deteriorating before her eyes like she was. âSheâs got a drug problem, and an alcohol problem that I know of, and about a handful of other stuff going on that I canât hope to understandâŠso, Iâd say things arenât going too great.âÂ
