I found @kurel-andiel's wine of choice.
“I started introducing myself to him, and he said ‘I hope you die screaming’ and kept walking.”
“Oh, that’s better than I expected.”
I exist, I promise. Starting to come back from crazy life stuff. I’m hoping to have more time and involvement soon.
Blueprints cross Kurel's desk first thing once the sun reaches up over the horizon in the morning. With it, a letter. Both have raised ink, for better reading and understanding. "I have the control panel finished. Find me if you need more explanation. I'm ready to set up." Signed, Archmage Sansone.
Archmage Semmi Sansone had caught on quick when it came to communicating with the blind Tanari sea captain. There was rarely a bug in his ear; the trio carried out their tasks with little need of overseeing and when he least expected it, they impressed him. Like now, as the flat of his palms caressed the thick parchment with its raised details of explanation to how the Brothel’s defense system would all come together.
All that remained was a need for Susan and her part in it.
He rolled up the blueprints. Tucked them under arm and set out quickly from his cabin on board The Queen’s Gambit. But where would he find the Archmage? Mugara’s quarters, at The Hanged Man in Dead Sun, or perhaps the Memorial in Stormwind’s Park.
@penelopemae-andco
Mugara’s office was the first place most people looked. Though Semmi had stayed out of his room for anything other than the work on the control panel, she mostly worked while he was on patrol. To get her out of his hair more, they tag-teamed shifts.
This time, Mugara snorted, shifting uncomfortably in his spot. “No, this time she’s gone to town,” he told the Captain. “She and my wife went to the Wheel, they should be sitting out on the porch. You’ll hear them from a mile away,” he grumbled.
And he would. Especially because the Archmage found him first. “Captain!” She called out. “Follow my voice!” She joked.
Mona’s murmuring made it clear she was stepping away to give them privacy. Her light, joking demeanor started to fade out, and she relaxed once it was the pair of them. “You saw the blueprints,” she observed, glancing at them under his arm. “What do you think?”
@kurel-andiel
“I felt the blueprints.” He corrected her. “An’ I think it’ll work.” Kurel sat on the steps of his gambling house where Mona had once been. Using his lap like a poor excuse for a table, those said blueprints were rolled open.
“I think we can star’ by buildin’ this. The main control base, righ’ here in Dead Sun.” He indicated which part specifically he referenced with his fingertips hovering just below the design. It was a mundane looking control base. Broad with a sort of hexagon shape to it. It had a few buttons and levers, but was mostly comprised of wires and magically charged crystals. “The tower.” He traced upwards along the paper to indicate. “We construc’ in a series of four pieces. It’ll make for both easier transpor’ over lan’ if we do i’ this way. Like fittin’ a puzzle together behin’ the brothel’s main buildin’. “Ough’ to also cu’ our work time down if we’re no’ just scatterin’ metal bits all over the backside of the Madame’s property. Now.” He rolled the blueprints back up. “Once it’s buil’. Two more thin’s to finish. Firs’, tha’ it’s receptive to wha’ever i’ is you’ve lef’ to do with in terms of gettin’ power to i’ an’ second. The Titan’s Disc can only be attuned to one person; the bes’ I feel bein’ Madame Gampre herself.”
Kurel had also brought a bag with him. He set it beside Semmi. Inside, was the Titan’s disc taken from Mugara’s office while he’d grumped over never being wanted. “Las’ rumor was she was hiddin’ ou’ in Stormwin’ somewhere. Under guard. Shouldn’t be too har’ for a rankin’ Archmage to locate a common citizen in protective custody. Righ’?” He smirked. “Fin’ her. You’ll nee’ a few drops of blood, leas’ tha’ was required for the one in Sunspire. Attune the disc to her.” He had started to get up, but remained instead.
“One more thin’.” And his tone took on a rather serious note. “This is old technology. The new presence of the Ren’dorei… this system has its limits an’ its dangers when i’ comes to void magic. Make sure she knows an’ understands tha’ i’ can not be powered by such. If anyone were to try. I’ will detonate an’ it’ll be worse than Theramore.”
@penelopemae-andco | @susan-gampre
Semmi had expected, when Mona told her about the Captain, to butt heads with him more often. She expected her fire and his stubbornness to clash more often than not and create disastrous explosions that harmed anyone nearby, a spectacle and a wreck at the same time.
But instead, the Archmage and the Captain seemed to work very well together, her own personality capable of separating personal life from business, and her mind working on separate scales of work versus life. She took her job seriously, and found it rewarding in return, but she knew it wouldn’t always be like that. Kurel’s head seemed to work on the same level, if for different reasons.
“Find the madame, attune the disc, and make sure she knows the rules,” she repeated, looking up at him. “Anything else, Captain?”
There was only courtesy keeping her here, asking him for any last minute adjustments or thoughts. She was ready to spring into action and get this started, the disc securely tucked away, hands over it in the bag he’d brought it in. Her only apprehension, however, was word that the madame hadn’t been in the best condition. She hoped that the attunement wouldn’t take too much out of her, if at all.
@kurel-andiel
“Just keep close, my little Della,” she heard her father call behind her as her legs carried her blindly towards the sea.
The weather didn’t feel particularly beautiful today, though she didn’t realize the drops of water spraying across her cheeks was the splash from the waves hitting the sand. It was cold, and salty, and it felt a lot like rain. Bare toes began to sink into the wet sand the closer she got to the surf, though it didn’t feel like sand. She stopped with childlike laughter rolling off her lips, and bent at her waist to push her fingers into what she would tell you could have only been silk. For a moment, the only sound that permeated the empty beach was the crash of the water over the backs of her hands.
Quite out of no where and suddenly, the familiar feeling of her father’s hands around her sides was pulling her to sit in the surf so the water would wash over their legs. “What color is the water, Della? What do you see?” It took her a moment. Seeing things in colors was something that her father was trying to teach her. He didn’t know what she saw anymore, but he prayed every moment that she hadn’t been left in darkness. With tiny hands buried to her wrist in wet sand, and sinking further, she stared blankly at the edge of the world, and listened - and waited - for the lovely sensation of the rushing waves. “Is it royal purple, Papa? The color that kings drape around their shoulders. Kings and princesses.”
“It is royal purple, Della. Very good.”
Spring Came and Went, and the City Burned
“This whole forsaken place is always cold and rainy, even in the summer,” Penelope grouched, her arms crossed over her chest tight.
She’d been less cold than if she were still human. The fur kept the cold out, kept it easier for her to handle extreme temperatures for longer periods of time. Still, the fur didn’t keep her from being miserable and wet.
Ostedt snorted at her and handed her a newly sharpened dagger. “There. Quit yer achin’, right. Ains’ has it worse than all of us.”
The younger turned her head to see the redheaded human with pristine clothes untouched by the rain, and brimming with warmth so much she may as well have had steam rising from her. She looked comfortable in that bubble of hers. Penny’s shoulders slumped.
Ainsley grinned at them wryly and approached, the triaged behind her. “We can’t stay here long. It looks like they’re rounding up another assault on the city and if we stay we go with it.”
The male’s lips soured in an unhappy purse as he went back to sharpening blades. “So tell the Commander,” he muttered. “We’ll get soon. What about the injured?”
The priestess raised her eyebrows as if she was surprised he asked the question. As if he knew the answer already. Sensing his pushback, Penny stepped between them.
“We’ll do it, Ainsley, just give us time. We haven’t even gotten orders yet,” she said, uncomfortable.
But they never would. The courier had been given a secret route that ran through the city proper, that would conceal her and keep her hidden from enemy fire. Considering they were being held off from the city, it didn’t seem like a problem, until one remembered the enemy still had assassins and spies, eyes and ears and blades all over.
The rogue closed her eyes as she saw the Forsaken on the rise. They’d have to do this themselves, and just find somewhere and pray that luck was enough.
“I missed the spring,” she said, quietly. “It came and went, and with it, the city burned to ashes.”
Ostedt rubbed at her arm, and then nudged her along. “Be upset later, Penny. We gotta go.”
She couldn’t even have that sliver of emotion. Damn this whole place to hell.
((OOC))
Recently, I went through a place where people in my life decided that my lack of attention was due to my lack of interest. They have decided to since walk away and I have no desire to ‘chase anyone’ to regain their friendship. I am going to, however, take some snippets from an article that describes my life… Credit to the Author (attached in a below Link):
“High-functioning anxiety looks like…
Achievement. Busyness. Perfectionism.
When it sneaks out, it transforms into nervous habits. Nail biting. Foot tapping. Running my fingers through my hair.If you look close enough, you can see it in unanswered text messages. Flakiness. Nervous laughter. The panic that flashes through my eyes when a plan changes. When anything changes.
High-functioning anxiety sounds like…
You’re not good enough. You’re a bad friend. You’re not good at your job. You’re wasting time. You’re a waste of time. Your boyfriend doesn’t love you. You’re so needy. What are you doing with yourself? Why would you say that? What if they hate it? Why can’t you have your shit together? You’re going to get anxious and because you’re going to get anxious, you’re going to mess everything up. You’re a fraud. Just good at faking it. You’re letting everybody down. No one here likes you.
All the while, it appears perfectly calm.
It’s when you’re social enough to get invited to things, but so often find yourself standing in a room where it feels like no one knows you. It’s being good at conversation and bad at making close friends because you only show up when you feel “well” enough. Only text back when you feel ready. Because you’re afraid they’d hate you if they really knew you. That the energy would overwhelm them, and you’d lose them.
So you learn to rein it in. Channel it. Even though sometimes you do everything right (exercise, sleep, one TV show, five emails, 10 pages…) and you’re still left with racing thoughts, the panic. The not good enoughs.”

I love you, Chelle. So much. I am here for you so much. I’ve missed the boogers out of you. I’m glad to know you’re alright, at the very least, but please take all the time you need.

Careful, Caring, Careless
The shadows bled off of Penelope before she stepped back into the Wheel of Fortune, making sure to kill her trail before heading back to the gambling house, where she subsequently also had room and board. What she figured would be a long night of deep sleep was actually interrupted before she peeled the rest of her clothing off.
“... Should be fine. Rest... days should do you,” was all she heard at first, the sound of linen being rustled overtaking anything else.
Her head tilted, bodice of her top apart, hands steadied as if she was ready to attack.
“Ainsley...” she whispered in warning, to herself. “What are you doing...”
The top was pulled off and forgotten on the floor, but she put on a loose tunic that she’d stolen from Ostedt before she had left Stormwind the last time. Wondered quietly how long it would take him to notice. Stepped out of her room and watched the limping woman leave Ainsley’s quarters. The priestess herself grinned, arms crossed over her chest as she leaned back against her doorjamb, looking pleased or accomplished or both.
“Excuse me,” the rogue prodded, the elder worgen’s smile fading. “What are you doing?”
“What does it look like I’m doing?” She hissed back, “If you expect me to sit here and wait for another stomach-turning journey without doing anything of use, you’re wrong. My work is of better use here, anyway. And they like when I take over cooking.”
Penelope licked at her lower lip and sighed. “No, Ainsley, you’re running a clinic out of your room,” she reminded her, looking at her, though her gaze flickered, avoided the younger’s. “You need a place you can practice without hindrance. Somewhere sterile. Somewhere better.”
“I’m not a doctor, Penny, so I don’t need a practice,” she fought back, though she could tell the woman was already considering it. “What do you expect me to do?”
The rogue leaned back and looked at the woman. She wasn’t a sailor. She didn’t care for boats or big adventures, her specialty was healing and caring for others. And she was good for it, here. And if she was already garnering a client base, there was some need for her.
“Good question,” she grinned, finally. “Leave that to me.”
Ainsley tried to protest, but her friend had already disappeared, on her own mission all of a sudden. “Penny!” She called out, probably to no one. “Don’t you go being reckless again!”
