It would have been so easy to end the byler storyline in season 3

They could have had mike and will have a heart to heart at the end where Mike apologizes for what he said, and Will could accept that his feelings are unrequited. Season 4 he could move on from Mike.

But instead, they ended season 3 showing us Mike being conflicted, completely independently from Will. El tells him she loves him and kisses him, and he doesn’t kiss back and looks confused afterward. He’s framed in front of an open closet. He looks back at the Byers’ house, and the camera is focused on him. We are meant to notice.

And then in season 4 all plausible deniability goes out the window. They show us that Mike is acting weird. And we are meant to notice!

So again, I ask: what was it all for?

The thing that pisses me off the most is that Jane never had to die- there's a million other ways they could have 'ended the cycle', one of them being that her powers are destroyed along with the upside down. Which in my opinion is literally the perfect outcome since she's always wanted to live a normal life.

Fuck the duffers, they really just said that the only way to ever end the abuse cycle is to kill yourself.
