What is EcoCAR 3?
EcoCAR 3 is a 4-year North American automotive engineering competition that is sponsored by General Motors and the Department of Energy. The competition has a rich 26 year history. Penn State’s Advanced Vehicle Team has been involved since 1988. EcoCAR spans 16 universities across the United States and Canada. The goal of the competition is to take four years and re-engineer a Chevrolet Camaro. The idea is to convert the car to an electric vehicle without sacrificing any of the engine performance that comes with an american performance vehicle. EcoCAR 3 is currently in year one of the four year competition.
