i don't know what my client wanted these for. maybe a prank?
oh well!
[Attached is a short video.
Only The Tinkerer's right arm is visible in the video. They are holding a black ballpoint pen. A similar ballpoint pen lays on top of a blank sheet of paper. They write the following words in black ink.
"Hello! I'm The Tinkerer! I'm writing this to test my latest creation. This pen will melt into ink 60 seconds after it's first used."
The Tinkerer draws an arrow pointing to the second pen, then writes, "Unused pen for reference!"
They absentmindedly doodle. Eventually, the pen they are holding melts into black ink.]
Ordinary reached into her hammerspace and fished out a small key. She checked her surroundings before unlocking the door to the Privacy Room in front of her.
Ordinary entered, locking the door behind her and blocking it with a chair or two.
She did a quick scan of the room and saw no one.
With the coast clear to her knowledge, she peeked into Ossa's file.
Ossa’s file contains about what you’d expect. Records of her day, worries about Orbit. She does mention an “Incident” in the files, which she doesn’t expand on due to breaking down crying.
(I’m trying to put a lil suspicion on a few people lol)
She checked Ovidia's and O'Vidiya's files before moving on to Oriko's.
Ordinary checks Ovidia's file and finds a concerning amount of fanfiction.
Smile To Your Day: A multi-chapter story about Mistress Mundane and Miss Smiles.
Oriko Pranks the Precinct (working title): Exactly as the title says. Some of the pranks were real, and some are fictional.
Origin Stories: Speculations of how some villains came to be.
Villain Arcs: A series of stories, each about an agent turning to oddness. There could have been more, but she found stories involving these five agents: Oxide, Olaya, Onlin, Ordinary, and Okapi. Ordinary is confused and concerned (especially about the fact that Ovidia chose to write a story about her), but she's also intrigued.
O'Vidiya's writings, on the other hand, are not as extensive.
"My parents think I'm an angel lmao. They literally caught me dyeing my own hair without their permission and they're just like 'congrats on the new look.' They're lucky I'm not a secret bully or something."
The first two pages of Oriko’s file are completely redacted in black ink. It would take a very complicated gadget (one that doesn’t even exist at this precinct yet) to decode it. Maybe Offie can make one.
After that, Oriko’s file is mostly records of her day. She seems to come in here a lot. The majority of the files from then on are prank and surprise birthday planning. No mentions of any Incidents or Fights.

Unknown voice: I’ve been monitoring your interactions with Ocula. I am impressed. Knowing the psyche of Miss Fortune, if she came to Odd Squad, she will have a file in the Privacy Room. Just don’t get caught.
I’m sure context clues can help confirm her identity.
Yo, what'd you guys end up doing with that scientist clone? Are they still in HQ or...?
we're holding cedric in hq right now.
We haven't caught him trying to escape, and we hope it stays that way qwq
He seems to hate being here. We've asked him if there was anything that would make him feel better, and he only asked for a new pair of glasses and a hair straightener. (We didn't give him a hair straightener, but O'Dahlia straightened his hair.)
if you have to interview him, keep him in his cell. and don't talk about oriel at all. or the fact that he's a clone.
sure he's not much of a threat without his gadgets, but he doesn't need another agent to hate.
Joan Cone: Do y'all have any more information on "the Best Agents?" I heard some villains talk about how "extreme" their methods are (hoping that's good extreme) but no one's told me anything in detail.
ooh. them.
the best agents aren't on our side. but odd squad doesn't seem to like them either. they're extremists, trying to get rid of villains "for good"
you really want details? here goes...
when the leader, omalia, was an agent, she released the cake virus on purpose just to turn a villain into a cake. she sent the cake to another precinct for an agent's birthday party. i heard cake-ified people don't feel pain, but getting eaten alive while seeing everything the whole time... no thank you.
one of them, a former security agent, poured hydrogen peroxide in a heat ray i was working on. when i tried to use it, boom. shrapnel all over my lab. would've left nasty burns if i wasn't wearing equipment.
those are just the incidents i know of. i don't know if they got more members since then.
but if you see an agent who's not wearing a badge, be careful.
I should be happy. I should be happy for Oriel. I should be happy that he and Ombré The Tinkerer get to do something meaningful. I should be happy that he got the opportunity to be in the spotlight. It's not often than anyone other than Offie gets to host a science-related event.
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to the gadget-making workshop.
But could I ever do something that actually impacts people?
Am I doomed to be insignificant? To live up to my work name? Gosh, the name should be doing me a favor.
It's fine it's fine it's fine.
You're being irrational. It's fine.
They're having fun without me. Then good for them. When did they last see each other?
They're having fun without me. Other agents do. All the time. Why am I only hurt now?
They're having fun without me. You're so self-centered. Oriel never said he didn't want to hang out with you, but he might change his mind if you keep this up.
Everyone, agent or not, is invited to the dang workshop. SO SIGN UP ALREADY INSTEAD OF FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF!
The Cube was packed. O'Vidiya and I rushed into a crowded elevator and anxiously waited until we were on the fifth floor.
"116, 117, 118... Room 119!"
O'Vidiya zapped the door with an Unlock-inator (one of the only gadgets we Security agents were allowed to wield) and we barged into the room.
"Odd Squad, Odd Squad, stop right there!"
My eyesight isn't the greatest, even with glasses, but I still questioned why I was seeing double.
Oriel looked up from the gadget he was holding and glared at us. Another Oriel, the real one, was loosely bound to a wooden chair, his face glasses-less and... yikes.
"You look rough," O'Vidiya winced.
Oriel slipped his arms out of the ropes and pointed to a thin but long cut on his right cheek. "Paper-inator."
He pointed to his right foot, which was encased in a block of ice. "More-Precise-Freeze-inator."
Oriel sneezed and sniffled. "Pollen-inator."
My eyes were drawn to a small burn mark on his left cheek. "What's that...?"
"Oh, this? Fireworks-inator."
"What?!"
No... We should've solved it sooner...
"Explain yourself," O'Vidiya demanded to the other Oriel. "Who are you?"
He cleared his throat. "I'm Cedric."
He chuckled and took his lab coat off, breathing a sigh of relief. Relief?
"Don't you know how exhausting it was to be him?"
"I thought you'd have it easy since we're technically the same---" Oriel started to say.
"We're not!"
"The same what?" I asked.
"Since you're so eager to blab about it, why don't you explain what you did to me?"
The other Oriel's---Cedric's---voice dripped with venom potent enough to numb a bear.
a bear?
I'd be exaggerating if I said an elephant hehe. Just look at him ^w^
Oriel sighed. "You know how I test gadgets on myself? I thought it would be a great idea to use the Multiply-inator to have a bunch more of myself, but I went too far and he rebelled and it's all---"
"What?" O'Vidiya demanded.
"I was nine! I didn't think of the consequences!"
Cedric readied a gadget. "You never do."
I retrieved my riot shield and stood in Oriel's way. "Look out!"
The beam from Cedric's gadget ricocheted off my shield and froze part of the wall.
O'Vidiya retrieved her own shield. "Free Oriel. I'll handle this."
I untied Oriel and dragged him to a corner of the room.
"Get his gadgets!" Oriel called.
O'Vidiya slid down to grab a gadget on the floor.
"Way ahead of you!" she called back, throwing the gadget to me.
"Gadget 70's the Heat-inator," Oriel said. "That's gadget 48, the More-Precise-Freeze-inator!"
Cedric retrieved another gadget, bombarding O'Vidiya with fireworks.
"Fireworks-inator! 110!" Oriel shouted over the noise. "Too big!"
O'Vidiya put her cochlear implants in her pocket and faced the fireworks head-on with her shield.
dug into my scalp and took them off yeah👍🏾
The removable parts! You know what I mean >:(
Just as Cedric was about to fire another firework, O'Vidiya knocked the gadget out of his hand and threw it to me.
"We can't use that," Oriel said. "110 is greater than 70---"
I aimed at Oriel's foot with the Fireworks-inator. A firework the size of a cigar shattered enough of the ice to free him.
Oriel blinked. "...That works, too!"
Cedric gritted his teeth. "Why do you have to be so---"
"Shields up!" Oriel exclaimed as he retrieved his own round shield.
Cedric retrieved yet another gadget and covered us in a burst of pollen. I'm allergic to a lot of weird things, but pollen isn't one of them.
I zapped him with the only other gadget we Security agents were allowed to wield: the Handcuff-inator.
"You win this time," he spat. "But just you wait, Oriel!"
I returned the rest of the gadgets to Oriel. He retrieved more of Cedric's gadgets from his hammerspace somehow...
"How are you doing that?" I asked.
"We're technically the same person. Kinda..."
O'Vidiya took Oriel's glasses off of Cedric's face and returned them to him.
We took both of them into the tubes back to headquarters.
Here's how we figured out which rooms Oriel could be in :D
(We still don't know for sure though qwq)
onlin was useful for once, so we figured out that this is what oriel's message said:
I'm in the cube-shaped building at the edge of town
It has 5 floors and 25 rooms on each floor
1st floor has 1-25, 2nd has 26-50 and so on
Room number had 3 digits. Ended in 3, 5, 6, 8, or 9. Tens place was 1 or 2.
I think it's divisible by---
you want onlin to do something? involve his pride.
i noticed that the last room on each floor is a multiple of 25. 25, 50, 75, 100, and 125.
