charlie fell in love first, during welton times. but then, cameron hadn't discovered himself fully yet and couldn't reciprocate their feelings. charlie's heart had broken. later, though, as adults, cameron accepted that he was queer in some way, and saw something unique in charlie and fell for them. really, really hard. but as he reached out to charlie, he realized that they were already happily married to someone else. and cameron's heart shattered in a million pieces.
