The 4 and 1 RP Prompt Challenge

So not a moment ago I found myself placing the blame of why I wasn’t getting as many RPs as I like on shipping. We’ve all made excuses like that and sometimes they are very much viable.

But then I went and thought about it and realized that.. there’s a lot more I could be doing too. Lately I’ve been a bit passive with my RPing, letting others come to me instead of actively trying to look for RPs.

So I’m making a challenge for myself and others are free to join me. I’m hoping it’ll allow for less disconnectedness all around and more roleplays, threads and muse and mun relationships.

For every four (4) RP prompts I reblog, I will attempt to send at least (1) prompt I see on my dash to another person.

It doesn’t have to be everyday. Just whenever you’re in the mood to RP with those around you. I see a lot of people reblog memes and never send them and I’m guilty of that too, but I wanna try and make a change, because that ends up with a lot of reblogged memes but few sent and often feelings of disappointment and being unwanted, which often isn’t the case.

Now, it doesn’t have to be a game, but it can be if you think it’ll help you keep at it. Feel free to keep a tally.

+5: Every time you send an interactive ask prompt (prompts that have potential to become RP threads)

+3: Every time you send a passive ask prompt (headcanon prompts, questions on anon, prompts that incite reactions to objects or events that doesn’t involve interacting with other muses)

+10: Every time you send an ask prompt to someone you’ve never interacted with before.

+3: Every time you send an ask prompt to someone who reblogged the prompt from you.

+5: Every time you send an ask prompt to someone who you reblogged an ask prompt from

Feel free to add more if you can think of them!

There are many blogs out there that are just for ask prompt memes and I highly recommend checking them out if you want to participate in this challenge. Reblogging memes you personally would want to send makes it easier for the people following you to reblog the things you both want to do.

I’ve seen that one thing going around about being multiship but also open to poly ships, but let’s remember it’s also okay to be single ship and open to poly ships too. Single ship just means there’s one canon shipping verse for your muse, not that there has to just be two people involved.

Mike’s Guide To Being Good To Your Mobile Users

So I’m guessing you use tumblr. And if you’ve been here long enough I’m guessing you know that there’s a mobile app...

..Which is lacking a few features.

Yes, most of us are aware that the Tumblr App doesn’t support pages. Which is fine for some people I guess but I’m a roleplayer on here and more often than not pages contain really important info like rules and character info and all that good stuff.

But this probably isn’t going to happen in there near future so in the mean time, you have to make due. Now Tumblr also has a mobile supported version on your mobile device’s browser and if you’re an RPer like me, this thing can be your best friend.

But the main thing with the browser version of tumblr is that you can see a person’s pages...

...or rather you should if that person has made them visible to you.

I’m going to be using two of my roleplaying characters as examples. One's an old muse that I don't play anymore, but it still works for the example.

When someone has all their pages visible, it looks like Percy’s blog here when you visit a blog on a mobile browser:

As you can see, you can see all the pages and can click on them at your leisure, which is really important for roleplayers like me.

However if someone doesn’t have their pages visible for whatever reason, their blog is gonna look like Jack’s here:

When I see this, I either think they either haven’t turned the pages visible or just don’t have them and I often won’t RP with people who don’t have at least a Character Sheet and Rules. So the guessing game begins.

Often people have Rules under url.tumblr.com/rules and Character Sheets under /info or /file or /about or whatever but please don’t make us guess. Please. Some of you guys have weird names for things and it makes everything harder.

If I can’t figure out your pages, I assume you don’t have them and I’m a hell of a lot less likely to approach that character.

But, you can turn these pages on so, so easily.

So let’s look at a customize page.

This is what the top part of your page probably looks like when you first make it; note the big red arrow:

All you need to do is hit that little tab to make it look like this and name it:

And mobile users will be able to see your pages. If you have a basic blog theme, you’ve probably already had to do this to have your pages visible anywhere but most custom themes make you put them in manually and most people think that’s enough. It’s not. You’re alienating your primarily mobile using followers and turning those little tabs on won’t do much harm.

Also remember if you want to get rid of a page and you do have that on on a custom blog, you should probably delete the page or at least turn the tab off again because us mobile users can still see it.

But please, please, please do this for others’ sake. It also makes sure everyone can see what you want them to see and helps with the “I can tell you didn’t read my rules problem.” They can’t read them if they can’t see them. Don’t exclude your mobile followers people.
