Message to Capulet Family:

I’m hoping that everyone has made it through this madness in one piece. With that being said, I need to hear back from everyone. Please tell me whether you’re okay, or whether you’re in need of assistance. I need to know the status of everyone in the family, this includes any injuries, or any security concerns. I’m on hand to help anyone in whatever way that I can. Please get back to me as soon as possible.

Arlo and I are okay. We were at my parents house and well secured. Thankfully he didn’t see anything or hear anything. We’re all in one piece and completely uninjured.

Perdita: Is everyone okay, and are the streets safe to walk down again, or should I stay home for the weekend?

Mae lifted her head to eye the woman but nodded, quickly getting up so that it was a little less awkward. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. Do you have a dog - oh.” She caught sight of the little boy after she asked the question, and her cheeks flushed a bit but her excitement about the child overpowered her embarrassment. “How old is he?”

“I do have a dog as well, but he’s at the groomers but that little monster is three going on 20” She rolls the ball back to Arlo before sitting down as the he joins in with some other children seeing the claim jewellery. “What about you? Any of those little ones yours?”

Sitting on a bench, Mae kicked her feet absently as she flipped through a magazine; she was at the park for some fresh air and looking at the sort of home decor magazine that her mother had always criticized as being too kitschy but Mae secretly loved. A vague thought circled through her mind that she could maybe get Wolfgang’s permission to redecorate one of the rooms at home - it would be nice to have a place that was fully hers, and she felt pretty confident that he would agree. But first she needed to actually ask him, and that was a bit unnerving. A shadow fell across her lap and she waited but when it didn’t move, she frowned, looking more intently at her magazine. “Can I help you?”

Giving a small smile, Perdita gestures to under the bench. “Sorry. Our ball rolled under your bench and I didn’t want to just crawl under there to get it and have you look down and panic. You don’t mind if I quickly grab it? Sorry to interrupt”

“Isn’t that your job? To give him payback when he’s naughty? I can only imagine the box full of embarrassing photos you can use when he gets his first girlfriend. Or boyfriend. Hell..or friend. What are kids for if not to embarrass them?” Celia laughed before extending out a hand. “I’m Celia by the way. Figured we should be on first name basis if I’m going to give you advice for torturing your poor kid.”

“Probably, though something tells me I should wait until he’s old enough to retaliate on purpose” Perdita sighs before giving a rueful smile and shaking the offered hand. “Perdita. Torturer of young souls, and in need of some kind of booster. Caffeine or sugar. I haven’t decided yet”

“I don’t think I’m getting photographed in it…” He said with a shake of his head. He let out a low laugh and appraised the two ties. “I need a new tie for work.” He explained, “Though I suppose I could use one for personal reasons as well.”

“Both, teal for work because it’s enough to not be bland but not bold enough to be tacky, the red however would look great if you’re going somewhere. Though if you’re doing a charcoal suit, a burgandy tie would pop against it, and be something a little different” Perdita muses before bringing over another tie and laying it against the suit of a mannequin. “Especially with winter coming, you need rich warm colours”

     “What they don’t know, won’t kill them. At least that’s what my mom and dad used to say about raising me and my brothers.” Charlie said with a laugh. “It sounds like he’s in need of a sugar cut back. How old is the little guy?–I’m not a parent, but my parents used to cut off my sugar intake after a certain time. So maybe you can give me cookies before say 5pm and then just not give him any after that.” She added kindly. “Don’t mind if I do then.” She went and placed her order and while she waited, she continued the conversation with the brunette. “Still mulling over your choices?”

“We’re generally pretty good. I’m we usually just do natural sweetners for him, I don’t do processed sugar unless it’s a special occasion, and I’m vegetarian, though I know my parents give him red meat still. Though I probably should double check what they’re giving him since apparently grandparents spoil their children and indulge them in everything, which would explain why he’s always excited to go there..” She shakes her head before finally making up her mind smiling at the other girl. “I have. I’m getting two of the chocolate chip, and two of the raisin. Try the raisin and hope it takes off. Debating on a slice of the vegan carrot cake too, I think the frosting is the same maple based one they had on my birthday cake not too long ago”

As she produced a package of wipes, Carlo couldn’t help but look back at her with slight wonder and amusement written across his face. “Is there anything that you don’t have in that bag? I’m tempted to play a game and see what you’re carrying in there. Since you’ve got those wipes, though, I’ll go ahead and take some of that watermelon.” It had looked good, and Carlo wasn’t the sort of person to skip out on food, if offered. He took her extended hand in his with a smile. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Perdita.” He glanced down at the dog and added, “Hello to you too, Alfie.” As he sat up again, his eyes went to his book, and smiled thinking of the suggestions he’d gotten from Adelaide. She certainly hadn’t let him down. “Gunslinger, it’s a good one so far. I read a lot of things, however. Do you read?”

“Please for the love of God, don’t jinx me. I’ve been doing so well at having everything I need” before sliding the container and the wipes between them so he can help himself, returning to her container of grapes. “...Not as much as I used to. I’m sure I’ve got a few books lying on my table collecting dust, but I’m usually reading from a teleprompter so by the time I get home, I’m all worded out”, well that and the fact she’s usually reading from Children’s books, but ‘I’ve read Cat in the Hat, 50 times alone in the past three weeks’ probably isn’t the best conversation input. “Perhaps I’ll read some more in Winter when we all go into hibernation mode. Though lately it seems I just get sucked into the netflix vortex”

“Such is life, I suppose. At least he’ll be the cutest reaction meme ever.” Elle shrugged and grinned. After her cousin was done ordering, Elle ordered a few cannoli to take home with her. “It’s been… amazing, actually. I didn’t think Verona could get any better, and then it did.” She couldn’t keep the cheesy smile off of her face. “I’m still happy to make visits to Milan and Rome for shows, but I’m not leaving here.”

“Too cute” Perdita groans. “Mama’s already at me to enter him in child pageants. He’s got these gorgeous chocolate curls now and apparently now is the time to capitalise on his cuteness, and hope that he listens”, she pauses as Elle’s face lights up, with a look that can only be described as smitten. “Oh? Something or someone special keeping you here then?”

text: A special taping!  How exciting!  Can I know what about or did you sign some serious NDAs?

text: Perfect! I’ll bring everything he needs, and honestly he’ll probably be settling down for a mid morning nap. He’s sleeping a lot lately, I got worried and thought he might be iron deficient turns out he just burns through a whole load of energy. 

text: It’s just about the trial, we’re doing a taping with the details of the case that week, information that’s come to light. Just basically a summary people can watch if they don’t want to read, but still be up with the latest. I think the breakfast panel are probably gonna do a discussion on it too and get the opinion of ‘legal experts’ and ex-watch members to weigh in on evidence, probability of guilt, all that sort of thing.

“I am thinking this proverb should apply to me also.  There is no food that is safe from me when I have the desire for snacks.  There have been instances of my parents still hiding food from me though I am not a child any more.”  She laughed.  She took her hand with a smile.  “Catalina Cancio.  It is a pleasure to meet you also.  I have not had the lemon tart since it was changed.  Is it still as good as it was?”

“Perhaps the code is becoming a parent yourself, since I’m near certain since Arlo was born, there are no snacks hidden from me. Either that, or they’ve gotten much more sneakier” Her tone is amused, before giving a small shrug. “..I think so? It’s for my parents, they babysat today so it’s a small ‘thank you’ token that they can enjoy once I’ve taken him and they can relax for the night. I feel bad dropping him off at 4.30am, but they keep insisting they’re more than happy to take him. The strawberry cheesecake slice however is to die for if you’ve got a fruity craving and can handle dairy”

“If I am honest I think kale may be the exception to the rule.  I’m not convinced anyone really likes kale and I have reached an age when I refuse to eat it now,” Martina replied with a grin.  Listening the the woman’s tales with amusement Martina shook her head at the question, “No, sadly I was never blessed in that way.  How old did you say your son was?”

“Apparently it’s bearable when blended and in a drink, but I’ve yet to find one that looks appetising, so I’ll keep you posted” Perdita retorts lightly, accepting her large tea. “I’m still getting to the stage where I’m learning that snack buying is hard work, and there was very much a reason why my parents never let me buy and eat an entire cake”, perhaps there was a thread of envy there. Of her cousins, and school friends who still very much lived life by their own rules, and with the freedom to go where and when they chose, though her expression softens at the question. “He’s three My Lady, though sometimes I swear one of these days I’ll blink and he’ll be in his teens before I know it”

“The islands are lovely, but I don’t know if I will actually have the time to do it. I like to talk about what I would like, but when it comes to actually doing it, I never seem to pull the trigger.” He chuckled, and shook his head. “I know that is pathetic, but it’s hard to get away. But enough about that, how is the show going? From my standpoint, you are doing well in the ratings, so I am a happy boss when it comes to you and what you have going on. Is there anything you need from Ezra or I to make your show better?” He didn’t want to talk about the trial, it was the cause of his stresses.

“Procrastination is the root of all evil isn’t it?” She can’t help but give a small laugh as she stirs at the cup of coffee. “It’s good. Being so new, and in such a prominent time slot is making it a little harder, but viewership is slowly going up, and we’ve got a bunch of great segments and interviews coming up that will be a huge draw card for viewers, so I think it’ll just be a case of showing that we’re here for the long haul. You’ve picked a great team. It already feels like a family if I’m being honest. Though I suppose group 5am starts tend to do that to people wouldn’t they Sir?”

“I think that a sugared up toddler is adorable, especially those that are just learning to walk. It’s so cute when they go to run and toddle only a few feet to fall down.” Dani wanted a kid of her own one day, but for now she was more than happy to let others take care of difficult toddlers. “I heard that teenagers are even worse, but I don’t have any experience with them.” She chuckled. “It does put them down for nap time very well.” 

“So I’ve heard, though apparently boys are easier than girls. So I’m keeping everything crossed that it’s true. Apparently boys need their Mama’s much more than what girls do” She sighs dramatically reaching for her coffee. “No chance you want an exhibit of child artwork? Arlo’s discovered the art of finger painting and there’s only so many paintings my fridge magnets can hold”

Ludo nearly ignored whatever the woman had been saying; for sure believing it wasn’t meant for her. Her attention was only caught when the brunette looked directly at her and apologised. Ah, so she had been correct in assuming it wasn’t meant for her, but now she was lost in the conversation, “I would love to help, though I’m afraid I really wasn’t paying much attention. What’s the situation? Something about cookies?” 

“Just trying to figure out if I could do a placebo effect with raisin cookies instead of chocolate chip” Perdita chirrups cheerfully before gesturing to the cabinet. “...Though I’d be getting in before that gentleman that walked through the door. He works a few offices down, and does the daily coffee and pastry run. So unless you’ve got at least 20 minutes to kill. I’d order now Miss”

“Chewie, no!” She’d been playing fetch with her small pup; yes, off leash, and yes, she knew that wasn’t technically allowed. But he was usually very good at sticking to her side. That is, until someone had walked by with some kind of food that smelled incredible even to Mila. And unfortunately, it seemed her small fluff ball was hoping they would share and ran over to them. She caught up quickly and scooped him up off the ground, “Oh god, I’m sorry, he usually has much better manners.”

Hearing the yell, Perdita’s head immediately shoots up used to being in full Mother mode and ready to dive up though she immediately notices the woman diving for the small fluff ball and gives a laugh. “It’s fine, though I’m not sure how good coconut curry or roti is for dogs. How could anyone say no to that face?”

When the seat was offered to him, Carlo sat down, an eyebrow raising in surprise when the stranger offered him a container with watermelon inside of it. He was actually slightly amused at the fact that he was being offered fruit by someone he didn’t even know. Somehow, the kind offer helped to lessen the sting of his previous thoughts, and his mood lifted marginally. “I don’t know, have you got anything for me to clean my hands after eating watermelon. I’m not keen on getting this book dirty and I’m sure the library wouldn’t appreciate it if I got the book dirty either.”

His mind went to Adelaide, and what her reaction might be if he brought the library book back after having handled it with sticky fingers from eating fruit. He decided quickly, if there was nothing that could help him clean his hands, he wouldn’t be touching the fruit no matter how good it looked. He also added, “My name’s Carlo, by the way. I figured it might be a good idea to introduce myself if you’re offering me food.”

“I do actually” Perhaps it was the perks of being a mother, but she rummages in the diaper bag next to her before pulling out a package of wipes, settling it between them as well as a small bag to dispose of used ones should she need to, before settling back on the bench, wiping her own hands clean before giving him a small smile in return extending her hand. “Perdita, and this is Alfie” before gesturing to the sleeping fluffball under the bench, she debates pointing out Arlo and introducing him, but honestly? It’s refreshing to go to the park without having to talk about benefits of no gluten, or fresh squeezed juices and developmental milestones. “...Good book?”
