Honestly the "but Peeta wanted kids so bad" line from the Mockingjay epilogue is really funny to me because for three books Katniss has been projecting her desire for children onto a guy who hasn't really ever verbally expressed any interest in having kids, so I do genuinely think the whole "kids vs. no kids" debate happened entirely internally for Katniss and one day she just went "ok, you win, let's have kids" and Peeta's at the kitchen table like"?????? Ok??????"

There’s a level of immaturity in the fact Gale that he didn’t realize he had feelings for Katniss until Darius said something.

He didn’t say or do anything for months.

In fact he didn’t say anything, until after Katniss returned from the Games. (To be fair I think he was at the Justice Building in THG.)

And it’s not until Katniss is in a (fake) relationship with Peeta that he kisses her/ tells her how he feels.

Oh brother, don’t get me started on his reaction to seeing Katniss and Finnick speaking in D13.

IMO Gale only wants Katniss when he thinks someone else wants her.

It comes off as possessive and dismissive of Katniss’s feelings.

Everlark Is a hilarious ship

because Peeta is like "I'm not sure the girl I like knew I existed before the reaping"

While his crush over here is waxing poetic about he reminds her of hope, spring, flowers and sunshine.

One of my fave Everlark scenes isn’t kissing or anything romantic. It’s when Peeta admits he painted Rue for the Gamemakers, and everyone is shocked so Katniss is like, “well I hung Seneca Crane whoopsie.” And then they just giggle because they are both so alike in some ways. Maybe Peeta is more artistic and intentional while and Katniss is more confrontational and reactionary, but they are in step with each other in a way that is truly impressive.

Diogo mistakenly thinking lila is with some other guy when in reality Five and her are just working undercover? Hilarious, no issues at all, the truth comes out at some point and everyone laughs at Diego for being dumb

The first thing Klaus took from that box was Dave’s dog tags and they just don’t talk about it. Viktor has trouble committing to relationships and this problem is not further elaborated upon. Ray’s abandonment is used as a dig against Allison. Luther seems to have given up searching for Sloane and only mentions her once. Diego and Lila are not content with family life and an unnecessary love triangle is formed between them and Five. The writers absolutely had no interest writing captivating personal drama or stakes for the Hargreeves in their final season.

Truly insane to think that two characters who were literally inseparable in s1-2 (Klaus and Ben) share zero one-on-one screen time in s4. Or even seem to care at all about each other before they go on horrible journeys that WoULd have benefitted from a wingman.

Yeah yeah yeah, it’s a different Ben, but by the end of s3 we had Klaus be the one to convince the siblings to give this new asshole-version a chance. They obviously still want to include him in the family. Why did we not have Klaus give a shit when Ben ran off on his own?? WHY was he never even able to find out how HIS Ben died when the rest of them did??? (He SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE for that jfc. Your cartoon mafia characters were not more interesting.)

The choices in s4 are baffling.

Klaus was the key to getting people on board with Sparrow!Ben. It was a horrific choice to remove him from that story so he could have his massively traumatic side quest that had nothing to do with the main plot and I’m mad about it.

As I’m trying to come to terms with whatever the fuck that was, I’ve decided that:

Seasons 1 and 2 are peak. Absolute masterpieces. Canon.

Season 3 can be taken or left. Has its moments, but overall not as good as the first two. Canon, but only if you want it to be.

Season 4 is a fucking crack fic written at 2am that the author rereads at a later date and decides to delete. Absolutely not canon.
