In the Horsehead Nebula, a black wisp of smoke near Orion’s belt, there is room enough for 20,000 solar systems. Who would enter that dark wood? The Horsehead stands out against a backdrop of luminous gas, a sea of space resplendent with the rosy light of radiant hydrogen. Who would recognize his own face in that infinity?
