NEC, IEC and ATEX
Intrinsically safe systems in industries are those with extremely low energy levels and a very low risk of exploding. As a result, they're relatively risk-free. The rest of the countries, with the exception of the United States of America, follow the IEC - International Electronic Commission. The National Electric Code (NEC) is followed in the United States. The main distinction between the two is that the NEC separates Hazlocs into classes and divisions, whereas the IEC organises them into zones. The ATEX system, on the other hand, is the one that is used in Europe.
