Leave the door open for a miracle. You do not have to be full of hope, just be curious enough about the next hour. Your obsession with control is not because you are a perfectionist, it's because you are scared of any outcome except for the one you meticulously planned. It won't always happen how you planned it to happen nor will it be the outcome you thought you wanted. I'm going to keep going because things are about to get really good for me. No amount of waiting will make you more brave and no amount of fear will make you more safe. Most things will work out for your betterment whether or not you think they will. Some things will never work out and you can grieve that, just don't stay rooted so deep in your misery you can't experience life again. Joy is not the opposite of depression, expression is. When you are deep in that depressive episode, you're not able to fully express yourself. Pay more attention to what your body says and pay a little less attention to every thought you have. Your mind will tell you a million awful things in a minute. Observe your thoughts then let them go, rumination will kill all forms of joy before you know it.

teaching yourself to not give up when things get hard is like super important and really worth it. the unfortunate side of it is when things get hard and you wanna give up you're self aware about it so you just say "nevertheless we persevere" but with bags under your eyes and slumped shoulders until you find joy again. like yeah i guess i'm just gonna tie my shoe laces a little tighter so the mud doesn't seep in cause i'm about to go slogging through it willingly. like if it wasn't serving me i would give up because i don't have the time or energy for that but unfortunately it is, so we must endure until it feels good again, i guess.
