An unfinished page from my sketchbook with cutouts from an old LIFE picture book. Itās probably my favorite page in my sketchbook so far to be honest ~
To begin by always thinking of love as an action rather than a feeling is one way in which anyone using the word in this manner automatically assumes accountability and responsibility. We are often taught we have no control over our āfeelings.ā Yet most of us accept that we choose our actions, that intention and will inform what we do. we also accept that our actions have consequences. To think of actions shaping feelings is one way we rid ourselves of conventionally accepted assumptions such as that parents love their children, or that one simply āfallsā in love without exercising will or choice, that there are such things as ācrimes of passion,ā i.e., he killed her because he loved her so much. If we were constantly remembering that love is as love does, we would not use the word in a manner that devalues and degrades its meaning. When we are loving we openly and honestly express care, affection, responsibility, respect, commitment and trust.

Poor women and women of Color know there is a difference between the daily manifestations of marital slavery and prostitution because it is our daughters who line 42nd Street. If white American feminist theory need not deal with the differences between us, and the resulting difference in our oppressions, then how do you deal with the fact that the women who clean your houses and tend your children while you attend conferences on feminist theory are, for the most part, poor women and women of Color? What is the theory behind racist feminism?
Audre Lorde
What does it mean when the tools of a racist patriarchy are used to examine the fruits of that same patriarchy? It means that only the most narrow parameters of change are possible and allowable.

HEY SQUAD. IT ME, BROOKLYN WHITE. IāM A YOUNG BLACK VISUAL ARTIST LIVING IN NEW YORK. IāVE ALWAYS BEEN PRETTY SERIOUS ABOUT MY CRAFTĀ BUT IN RECENT TIMES, IāVE BEEN TRYING TO THINK OF WAYS TO TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL. A FEW OF MY LOVELY TUMBLR FOLLOWERS SUGGESTED THAT I SHOULDĀ BRANCH OUT AND START INDEPENDENTLY SELLING POSTCARD SIZED (MAYBE A LITTLE BIGGER) PRINTS OF MY WORK AND PUTTING SOME OF THOSE PRINTS ON SHIRTS. I THINK THATāS AN EXCELLENT IDEA AND I WANT TO PURSUE IT! I ALSO HAVE AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY TO SELL PRINTS IN A THRIFT STORE IN MY HOMETOWN. GETTING THESE KINDS OF THINGS OFF THE GROUND REQUIRE MONEY THO AND IM NOT FINNA STUNT LIKE IM A MILLIONAIRE. BUT I REALLY DO WANT TO STEP UP AS AN ARTIST AND I NEED YALLāS HELP. IT WILL GO TO THINGS LIKE INK, MARKERS AND OTHER ART UTENSILS, CARD STOCK, T SHIRTS, PAYING THE SCREEN PRINTER DUDE, SHIPPING THANGS, ETC. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IM EXTREMELY PASSIONATE ABOUT AND I SERIOUSLY CANāT DO IT WITHOUT YALL!!! ANY LITTLE THING HELPS!! LOVE YALL, WE OUT. 1.
