well, i am still alive, doing decently, and hoping you all are too! opening up this blog again and seeing all the really nice messages from my old friends was really heartwarming and i'm sorry to anyone i disappeared on

anyways, in the past couple years i've dropped out of college, moved to a new country to live with my partner, and transed my gender. i'm a sort-of-man-thing now.

unfortunately i don't think i'll be returning to roleplay anytime soon (i'm not sure if i even really remember how, honestly) so consider this blog archived, if you haven't already. i have only recently returned to tumblr in general, mostly because the internet has become a pretty lonely place and i'd like to at least start making online friends again, and hopefully rekindle some of those old friendships.

i still think about ocs a lot, especially my precious man Oberon, who has honestly evolved a lot. maybe roleplay would be the way to return to sharing and developing them? i'm not really sure yet, but this blog would need a big overhaul if that was the case, or i might just make a new one altogether.

in the meantime, i missed you guys, and if anyone wants to reconnect, DM me and i'll give you my discord handle & my new "normal" blog. i post about ocs / art there once in a while and i'm hoping to do more soon.

So I’ve kind of? Dropped rping but am probably going to keep this blog active in terms of like, brainstorming and stuff (AKA this is now gonna basically be a Jessie Talks About Their OCs zone for the most part) and there’s some stuff with Oberon’s story I’ve been trying to return to and rethink.

a) I kind of.... don’t love using the seelie vs unseelie dynamic for my own purposes, mostly because just the... translations of “blessed” and “unblessed” make me feel like that’s the result of Christian influence and also like. the good/light vs bad/dark vibes are uhh. I don’t know? I don’t wanna use em? So I’m going to do my best to do as much research as possible into the original folklore, which will definitely be really hard to find (please please give me recs to stuff if you have them) and work with that.

b) I realized a while ago that Aubera would be the Female Character Everyone Hates and it bummed me out? But I’m also aware that her character isn’t super interesting or well developed, and she’s very similar to Macha, so I’m probably going to try combining their characters and taking a fresh look at her to make her more charming and endearing to compensate for her flaws.

originally i just went with faeries being able to communicate with everyone Because Magic but recently I've been like, entertaining the idea that they just catch on to other languages very quickly. just because I like the idea of Kestral struggling with only knowing his own language, which is dead, and having to learn Faerie + modern human languages.
