skincare post
fyi this is mostly documentation for myself because i have Memory Problemsâą and tend to change my skincare habits often i've had acne since i was 10 years old. i am 19 now and it's finally looking like it's coming to an end. so here's what i've been doing 1. not wearing makeup i have to get this one out of the way first, lol.for about 6 years i wore makeup damn near every day. it didn't make me feel any better about myself, and i found it mostly just masking my low self-esteem. i enjoy doing my makeup occasionally but at this point i would rather focus my energy on skin care and learning to accept my barefaced self. the condition of my skin has definitely gotten better since i've decided to stop wearing makeup. 2. birth control i have a hormone imbalance, so taking daily birth control has helped me immensely. i do not recommend depo provera (birth control shot given once every 3 months) to anyone. my acne went from being minuscule/moderate to exceptionally severe. i've read several accounts from women who this has also happened to! 3. at least somewhat natural products i have very sensitive skin so this is a big one. to me, chemically fucking with the balance of your skin is not the way to go. it almost always ended in inflammation, excessive dryness, making my skin even more red, or it actually did work incredibly well my body just became tolerant so quickly that the results would plateau out. i use a cheap target brand (green tea) exfoliant to initially cleanse my skin. then i follow with dr. bronner's (hemp and eucalyptus) soap. twice a day! 4. serums and oils > cream moisturizers if you have a cream moisturizer you like, congratulations you've achieved the impossible. there's one i like from formula 10.0.6. (seriously shine free) but serums and oils are so much more effective. i use hemp oil at night, and rosehip oil in the morning. works for skin and body. 5. drink some fucking water you nasty goobers there really isn't much else that needs to be said. drink soda, juice, or other drinks only on occasion. your body needs water. for seriously glowing skin drink like a gallon a day. i know it seems like everyone says to drink water but maybe we know what we're talking about 6. be mindful about what touches your face dirty pillowcases. your boyfriend/girlfriends dirty hands caressing your face. your cell phone! your own hands. if you cleanse your face with a sponge/wash cloth make sure you wash it or switch it out often. if you do wear makeup clean your brushes ya'll. any hair that might touch your face, bangs, hair blowing in the wind, etc. 7. diet when i eat half a container of oreos at 3 am when i'm high as fuck i always wake up in the morning with my face broken all the way out! i wonder why. some people stop eating dairy and swear by it. i've just tried to eat better in general and it seems to be working. i also take a complexion vitamin and dietary supplements. it's important!
