❝ Are you really so dense that you don’t even realize what you’re doing? I don’t really think you can determine whether or not I’m feeling bugged by you. Since when does being HONEST automatically qualify as being mean? Why can’t people just say how they feel without it being perceived as rude? the relationship between lola and tiny was abrupt, to say the least. tiny had always been a go-with-the-flow kind of guy, and lola hadn’t even been on his radar until he started talking to shay powers. but lola had it all —- she was pretty, spunky, and she made all the darkness in his life feel LIGHT. the past year had been a wild ride for him, but he finally felt like he was in a safe place. having lola by his side now only continued to bring him up. he wasn’t necessarily great at expressing his feelings or even his gratification towards the people who deserved it, but that was because he hadn’t learned any better way. it was VINCE BELL who raised him, after all —- and the last thing he wanted was to follow in his footsteps. he wanted to do something big for lola, but he couldn’t do any planning with her by his side all the time. it was the last thing he wanted to do, but he had to keep his distance from her. it would all be for the best, at least he thought —- completely oblivious to how some girls would start to feel if her boyfriend was suddenly paying less attention to her. head stuffed into his locker looking at his phone, filled with random notes of his upcoming plans, he was completely unsuspecting of the girl as she came up to him. as soon as he felt her arms around him, he jumped, quickly twisting in her arms and looking back at her. it was a usual reaction —- always having to be prepared for whatever may come ( it was a lesson from vince ). but he couldn’t even be relieved when he saw her, quickly closing out of his notepad app and locking his phone to shove it in his pocket before he could react. ❛ lola !❜ he said, breathing a bit heavier now and trying to calm down. ❛ wait, you’re not zig, ❜ he said, bringing his finger to his chin and quickly trying to cover up his nerves with a joke, as per usual. leaning down, he placed a kiss on her cheek and smiled wider at her now. ❛ been a while, babe. how are you ?  ❜

ever since the start of tiny and shay’s partnership, lola was cautious -- trying her best to say all the right things for her friend’s happiness. although her feelings for the boy n e v e r faltered, her friendship with frankie and shay was far too sacred to be ruined over a boy. so, the pretty in pink friend played along, happy for her friend, yet, silently wishing she would’ve been as lucky -- until she was. tiny freaking bell had asked HER out, her excitement was almost too hard to hide but she couldn’t accept, not until she had confirmation from shay that it would be OKAY. she was now tiny bell’s girl, and she loved the sound of that. lola’s arms loosen their grip around the boy as he turned around to face her. ❛ not f a i r, you totally cheated ! ❜ she exclaimed as a soft giggle escaped her lips. her cheeks became the color of her cherry lipgloss, and a sheepish smile quickly took over as he placed a kiss on her cheek, no matter the circumstanced he still always made her blush. ❛ i think i should be worried about your bromance with zig. ❜ lola teased her boyfriend, she knew the two were very close  ( almost as close as she was with frankie and shay ). there had to be something wrong, she could feel it, tiny was jumpy -- like he was afraid and paranoid. lola’s fears of him rejoining the gang and getting hurt were becoming all too real for her. shaking away her thoughts the girl looked up at tiny portraying her beaming, unworried face, but she was always terrible at keeping things hidden. ❛ i’m great, awesome, totally CHILL. nothing wrong with me -- what about YOU? ❜ she rambled, not liking that he was hiding something from her.  ❛ anything new, there must be something since my boyfriend is totally M I A all the time. did you, i don’t know, join any new clubs? ❜ she asked trying to be subtle.

lola knew tiny’s life consisted of more important things than herself but she wanted to be a part of it, not just for herself but for tiny as well. she had had the b i g g e s t crush on the boy since she could remember, he always seemed so bright and strong -- plus he was great to look at, tiny was a TOTAL catch and now she was lucky enough she say tiny bell was HERS. however, lately things had been different between the two -- they had been more distant. at first, lola believed it was because miles had send her a picture of his -- j u n k, but the innocent dainty girl had explained to the boy she had no intention of ever receiving those pictures. lola was sure he had believed her but she still felt guilty for everything and how it ended. however, now she was starting to think it was something bad -- really bad; him rejoining the gang, B A D. spotting him from across the hall, she turned to her friends as if she was waiting for their approval before she left them for him.  ❛ see ya girlies.❜ she said with a big smile on her face as she walked past her besties and towards tiny.  ❛ hi cutie, guess who ! ❜ lola said, wrapping her arms around him from behind. she’d hoped everything would be back to normal -- she couldn’t bare the thought of the boy getting hurt again.

lola’s catina used to be a place that felt like a landing spot for esme and miles; they often made their way there before or after whatever reckless adventure they were participating in at any given day. but this time, she was alone ( not by HER choice, of course ), and strangely enough, she was here for lola, a girl she was sure to find absolutely no common ground with. spotting her at a table outside, she sat across from her and smirked. ❛ where’s that body guard of yours? or.. did he actually let you come out on your own? ❜  she teased, not recalling a time she didn’t see tiny bell by her side. as if that was fair – for months, she and miles were connected by the hip, but regrettably, that wasn’t so true any more. of course – that was esme’s fault.

the petite candy-haired girl waited nervously for her recently assigned partner. lola had hesitantly asked her papa for the day off the catina, secretly hoping he’d refuse and go on and say some spanish quote about how hard work leads to profit  ( and how profit leads to MORE data minutes ), yet, she was shocked at how quickly he had agreed to it. now all she did was wait, sitting outside at her favorite table which faced the painting on their walls. lola didn’t know much about esme, aside from the fact frankie always mentioned how she and miles were close -- only making her nerves escalate as she was sure esme would mention the picture frankie’s big brother had send her. the girl’s head quickly shot up as she heard a voice in front of her. ❛ hi -- ❜ her voice cracked as she initially began speaking. ❛ i was taking a shift, so he’s probably with his squad -- you know, maya, grace, and zig. ❜ lola informed her, even though she was sure esme didn’t really care but over-talking was always a side-effect from her nerves.  ❛ but he’s not, like, with me ALL the time. i spend most of my time with shay and franks -- and now with Y O U. ❜ a genuine and innocent smile appeared on her lips.

Rolling her eyes, she was still trying to process how  her best friend had ended up with someone like her. Mostly, it was just humorous. She was a year younger than them, but in Grace’s eyes, she acted younger than that even. And trying to process the fact that one of her friends was actually with someone like her –  popular, clean – it was interesting. ❝ Yeah, I’m sure.  He just – can’t shut up about you, ❞ she taunted,  chuckling again. ❝ Actually, that’s not true. Lola’s terrified expression quickly lightened up as Grace admitted Tiny would talk about her to his dangerous and scary friends. ❝ --- Ohmigee, he talks about me a lot? What does he --- ❞ she asked excitedly. The bright smile on the cheerful petite’s face faltered as Grace’s brutal honesty made it clear Tiny didn’t really show as much interest in her as she did in him.  ❝ But you just said --- ❞ her voice sounded sad, not hiding her disappointed as Lola was a clear ball, what you see is what you get with her -- or at least that what everyone always thought.  ❝Okay, so I’ll tell you EVERYTHING there is to know! ❞ she suggested her face lightening once again with hope. She figured if she made big and scary Grace like her, maybe she could show Tiny just as much as she liked him.  ❝ You weren’t there, but you guys are like always together..... THAT time? Tiny was stabbed more than once? ❞ her eyes widened. ❝ You can tell me, I’m a great secret keeper -- pinky promise I won’t tell anyone ❞ . she said extending her pinky finger out to Grace with slight fear. ❝ Good, scars are so nasty. ❞

Grace’s fist instantly clenched as she felt the splash of the drink. Clenching her jaw, she looked up at the culprit, ready to give her a piece of her mind. But spotting the vibrant pink hair and the worried look on her face, she knew she wouldn’t have to do much to scare the girl. She already had. ❝ You sure that’s not what you want? Figured it might be a GREAT way for you and Tiny to, you know, connect. He knows all about getting stabbed, ❞ she taunted, rolling her eyes and laughing at the shorter girl. Turning her mouth into a scowl, she stared down at her.

Lola’s eyes closed tightly shut and began swallowing dry as she waited for the worst to happen. Instead of the pain she was bracing herself to take on, Lola heard Grace’s voice. Slowly, she opened one eye and then quickly after the other one did as well. The inoffensive frightened girl looked up at Grace taken back by the other girl’s words.   ❝ Me and Tiny are doing just fine but thanks for the nice offer. ❞ Lola gained the courage to say, as she giggled nervously hoping Grace was only joking. ❝ Was it scary? ❞ she asked, setting the first thing in her mind free.  ❝ Was there, like, blood e v e r y w h e r e? OMIGOSH, have you ever been stabbed? Did someone really die in the rubber room?” the candy-haired girl’s words came out rapidly, she was scared but all so curious to know all the stories and myths of the terrifying Rubber Room.
