‘ I GUESS I OWE YOU ONE ’. corners of lips curve, a gentle hand squeezing the shoulder of the other; a means of comfort. a goodbye. ‘ dean needs a hard time once in awhile. --- ’ a pause. ‘ it’s going to be BETTER, claire. jody’s a good person. she’ll take care of you. ’
Ophelia & Simon get to talking about past love & why they decided to come on the show, as well as delving into what they are looking for in their potential matches. The two share kisses & cuddles as they chat late into the night, basically falling asleep this way.
Ophelia [ looks over at Simon with a smile ] I'm totally lost at what's going on right now. I'm Ophelia, by the way.
Simon I'm pretty lost too, I think it's going to take a while to settle in here but yeah! I'm in for it. Oh, and Simon I'm.....I'm mean I'm Simon.
Ophelia [ laughs at Simon, taking his hand and pulling him to sit ] Nice to meet you, Simon.
Simon [ gladly takes ophelia's hand settling down to sit ] This feels like freshman year of college all over again.
Ophelia You were the wild type in college, then?
Simon [ raises his brows to answer ophelia ] me a wild college type ? hardly. but i have a band so we played for a lot of random parties & gigs.
Ophelia A band? That's cool. So music is your thing? Do you play an instrument?
Simon [ nudges his drink that he's not really drinking from because he's not so sure he's ready to be drunk ] I play some guitar & sing. Majored in musical education.
Ophelia [ takes a sip from her wine ] That's really cool. I don't play music, but I'm studying dance at NYU
Simon Dance? That's amazing. I'm over people saying that the arts aren't real majors. We put blood, sweat & tears into our work, though. I did minor in business....but music is where my passion is.
Ophelia smiles with a nod of her head. "Business, that's cool too. It's good to have a backup plan, but my Dad always encouraged me to follow my passions. I almost gave up my spot at NYU for my last boyfriend but I'm so glad I didn't."
Simon puts his chin in his hand as he listens to her over the babble around them. " Good to hear you won't let anyone stop you from your dreams. I don't think my mom was thrilled when I said I wanted to be a music major, but said being happy with what you do is more important in the end."
Ophelia sighs, biting on her lower lip. "It's not that he tried to stop me. It's just, it's complicated. Things with him always were. We were in the public eye and there was so much pressure put on our relationship. You have any idea what that's like? Liam was great, but I don't think I fit in that world."
Simon thinks this is a good start to getting to know the girl. He could already see her at least being a friend in the house. "Pressure...that I can get. It starts to get too stressful and straining? For so long people thought that my best friend & I were a thing. So much that I almost always felt pushed back to her, but I was afraid to ruin that with dating. And we nearly did."
Ophelia nods her head, hands folded together in her lap. "Yeah, he was -- uh, sort of a public figure." For now, she's avoiding bringing up that she was dating the future king. If anything would give a guy an inferiority complex, it'd be that. "Relationships with friends is always a slippery slope to go down, but it's slippery slopes that ended us all here looking for love."
Simon glances to catch her gaze only to notice her eyes are as beautiful as the rest of her. He must be a potato in comparison. "Gotcha -- well still. Sometimes we have to find ourselves on our own too." He nods about this definitively. "Uhh...yeah, they kind of are. We tried it, but we're way better as friends. I don't think most people believe a guy and girl can be such good friends and not be together. But yeah, we're in the right place."
Ophelia nods in agreement with the words coming from his mouth. "You're right about that. Being broken up with him has taught me more about myself than I thought it would. So what is it you look for in a girl?"
Simon finds himself shuffling a little closer to her to hear her around the chaos around them. "What do I look for ? That's a hard question --- I don't really have a type, but I've always been looking for someone I can vibe with. Listen to music with or joke about stupid things while we watch movie marathons until we can't keep our eyes open. Ready to always explore new things about each other....what about you?"
Ophelia shrugs her shoulders. "I don't know. I'm just looking for a guy that's there for me, a guy that knows how to have fun but isn't afraid of the serious stuff and a guy that has a great sense of humour. He can't be afraid to laugh at himself. I want someone who I can say I feel at home with, most of all. All the physical stuff is just extra."
Simon can't help but to smile a bit because he thinks he may have some of those features, but doesn't want to be totally lame by admitting to them. "Right. I think some of the things we sort of just need to --- learn how we click by talking to the person. For the record though: I do laugh at myself....probably more than anyone else does."
Ophelia "Well, talking isn't the only way to learn."
Simon blinks for a minute in a pause. Unsure if she's going to say anything else. " --- What other ways are there? " Not that he can't think of some but he doesn't want to imply.
Ophelia leans forward, lips pressed gently to Simon's. "How's that for a way?"
Simon admires her boldness, feeling a chill run over him when she kisses him. Another part of him in disbelief that she did want to kiss him at all. "Hmm, I think I might have to try a bit more to know." He grins.
Note: the rest after this was headcanoned as mentioned in the description!
