We might get some almonds this year! With our late heavy frosts and constant winds, I always knew almonds would be a stretch, but so far so good.
The problem with winter cover crops is that we can never deny the pollinators an early feed, nor our eyes the flowers' beauty.

A slab of reclaimed concrete in the garden has been adopted by my daughter while awaiting its intended use. Looks like it's found its true calling.
R has taken up making baskets using the materials and techniques of the traditional owners of our area. The repetition is a welcome therapy on her darkest days.
What do you plan on doing with 150 salamis?
Everyone's getting salami for Christmas :)
Your salamis are beautiful! Well done! I run a Star Trek/misc blog here on tumblr, but I am also an urban homesteader who LOVES stuff like this. Salami making is something I hope to start next spring. Your pictures are inspiring! :)
Thanks. Definitely don't make the same mistake I did by making 150 on your first try!
Little Chief and her furry assistant making perfume with the first flowers of spring. It's essentially a scaled down version of how I make fermented plant extract fertilisers.
This is Ducky. He's a special duck. He taught my permaculture design certificate 6 years ago, and has taught many since. He even lived with Bill Mollison for a year at his property in Stanely, Tasmania. It makes me very happy that Ducky is still quacking, waddling, and making people smile.
The result of a weekend of salami making. Hard work, big rewards.
These hands are tools.
These hands get shit done.
These hands will wear out, as will I.
Frame of earth bag + ferrocement greenhouse, made from disposed trampoline frame and reclaimed timber.
Brewing a couple hundred litres of fungal-dominant aerated compost tea for the fruit trees at early budset.
Spring is swelling under winter's frost.
