"my parents sold me to one direction" shut up and sit down
my father sold me without my mother's knowledge and as an unconsenting child bride to my uncle who violently kidnapped me from my mother and tumblr has the audacity to heavily romanticize it while ignoring the suffering, the lack of consent, the age gap, the incest, and the actual purpose of the myth being about a mother's grief that is so strong that she denies life itself and stops all natural growth while her daughter is away, forcing the gods to relent somewhat so the humans that worship them don't die off and her daughter can come home for half the year, thereby acting as an origin myth explaining the seasons
You know, the ancient authors always describe Hades and Persephone as “dread”, “merciless”, “hard-hearted” and the such, but when you read the myths, they are actually more lenient than it’s reasonable lol. Dionysus wants his mom back? He can have her. Orpheus wants his wife back? He has to follow some rules but he can take her too! Heracles wants my guardian dog? Okay, just don’t use any weapons on him. Odysseus wants to speak to his dead loved ones? Prayer answered! Psyche wants some of my beauty? Well, I can’t refuse a young pregnant woman. Apollo wants his boytoy back? Sure thing! And he can take his sister too!
in the garden, the queen of the underworld and the goddess of the night find a moment of quiet together, relishing in their reunion after so many years of being apart

Queen Persephone's new altar 🦇
It's not the prettiest thing and I don't have a proper statue but I made this from what I had on hand, and as for the bat imagery, I associate her with bats. Fruit bats to be exact 🤗
I'm gonna get more/better stuff for her altar as well as offerings as time goes on but for now, it looks like Halloween central lol

Offerings for the lovely Persephone - one for being the Queen of the Underworld, and another for her being the Goddess of Spring 🫶 I love her duality
Hades and Persephone 🌙 — my illustration referring to the Art Nouveau works of Gustav Klimt and Alphonse Mucha. I love this myth and decided to portray it in my own way: the appearance of the characters is inspired by my and my husband's features. I decided not to depict Hades as an old man, after all, he was a god. The illustration presents a melacholic scene; it could have happened both before and after the abduction. Hades does not take anything by force: Persephone's gesture is both tender and decisive, Hades' embrace full of gentleness and respect. Hades waits, and Persephone looks at him: she does not push him away, but envelops him with her arm. Time has stopped for them.
