@pescomage
Times are rough. Have an Armadillidium isopod on some moss.
It’s been over a year since my last real post here because the BBA and Camallanus had been bumming me out, but I want to do an update:
I’ve done 2 rounds of Levamisole treatments on the 55gal
Every month or so I use food soaked in Fenbendazole for 3 days
My angelfish (which had worms in its vent at the start of treatment) is doing great and hasn’t had visible worms for a long time now
No visible worms in any fish for months!
But still an occasional death that seems to point at worms :/
(Hence the continued Fenbendazole treatment)
BBA disappeared from the puffer tank after adding ramshorns
The puffers have unfortunately also disappeared. I suspect it was Camallanus too, but I didn’t catch the symptoms until it was too late.
There’s still BBA in the 55gal, but it behaves itself and doesn’t smother the plants anymore. Now the big threat is hair algae, which at least comes off relatively easily, but... *grumbles*
I lost 3 of my corys within a month, totally out of the blue. Only one looked weak before going. The rest are still as bright-eyed and lively as ever.
I need a better light for my 5gal
One of my Amazon swords has flowered
SMAP isn’t back together yet, but at least 3 of the members are releasing music that might go well with footage of fish...
Some years ago, fish expert Sakanakun was talking about how his pufferfish (spotfin burrfish/イシガキフグ) would beg for food by squirting water from their mouths.
I guess that behavior’s not limited to big marine puffers.

*gurl!
Dwarf pufferfish can be sexed by their markings; males tend to have darker, more saturated colors and larger spots, plus iridescent wrinkles around their eyes and a dark line down their stomach.
Her name is Karen c:
My guppies aren’t fond of staying still, but I got some blurry shots of some of the more interesting colors that are developing in the ones that were born in my tank
The panda cories have no problems with Bacon, it seems.
They’re so fast. I will never be able to get pictures of them.
The cories enjoyed their mysis shrimp!
Two Corys share the same worm (Aspidoras spilotus and C.Arcuatus)
Lots of questions re:Camellanus
Avocado Toast looks like they have Camellanus worms… I’ve had 3 guppies die in that tank since I got them, but I could never find the cause so I’m wondering if it was the Camellanus too.
I hear the only way to stop it is with Levamisole HCl, does anyone have experience with this treatment?
And is it safe for snails? If not, could I move them to a separate tank while I treat my fish, or do the snails need to be treated too?
I feed snails from the infected tank to my dwarf puffers and use some of the same equipment between the tanks, but I haven’t seen any symptoms of parasites in the puffers; should I still treat my puffer tank at the same time to be safe?
How do I prevent this from happening again? I haven’t purchased any fish in 2 months and I’m only now seeing symptoms I can diagnose
Is there anything else I should know?
I used dog dewormer, Fenbendazole, actually, combined with prazipro, and it got rid of the worms in my endlers. http://www.planetinverts.com/killing_planaria_and_hydra.html ugly link because mobile, but I followed this for dosing the dewormer and just combined it with prazipro. I’m not sure how a puffer would respond as endlers are petty hardy fish, I would monitor the puffer and see if they show any signs of infection before proceeding with dosing them.
I wish I’d seen this earlier! I ordered some Levamisole off AquaBid, but it’s always more reassuring to get something that’s commercially available. If that doesn’t do the trick, I’ll go for the Fenbendazole and PraziPro next.
Thank you!

My shy darlings :) (best if the audio is muted)
I really need to figure out what dither fish I’m going to add to help these guys feel safe enough to spawn. It’s a 20 gallon tank, so something small for sure. Either a breeding pair of something flashy, or another school (probably of livebearers, or corydoras hastatus).

Hooray!
I had a dream that the Fluval Spec V was on sale for $30
All 4 noodles lined up together for a photo again! If you didn’t notice, they’ve grown quite a bit since the last photo with them all! (Especially Carol… Carol went from tiny to tying for second largest!)
Just picked up this sleek little tank yesterday!
I’d been thinking of getting a small tank to separate my puffers, but ever since I changed their feeding routine I’ve been seeing a lot less aggression between them. Keeping active, curious fish alone isn’t something I enjoy doing (I’ve had fish get stressed out from living alone), especially when the tank wouldn’t be in a high-traffic part of the house. Getting a closer look at the built-in filter is also making me wonder if it’s strong enough to handle a dwarf puffer’s mess.
Will this just sit on my bed stand and look pretty? Who knows!
New friend!
It spent some time checking out every single shell, then gave a little chirp before moving into the one it liked best. It’s got some store/traveling wear and tear, but nothing a molt can’t fix.
Also, the employee who helped me out this time seemed very enthusiastic about the hermit crabs, so that was fun c:
