Man killed in house fire started while using propane torch to burn bugs

LAS VEGAS (KLAS/CBS Newspath/WKRC) - A man died in a house fire after investigators say he started the blaze, trying to kill bugs with a propane torch. The Clark County coroner identified the man as 63-year-old Jeffrey Long. The fire happened Monday night in Henderson. According to Henderson Fire, Long was trying to exterminate bugs with a propane torch in a crawl space of the basement of his home when the blaze started. Firefighters say Long accidentally ignited combustible materials.

Man kills mom, 89, because of bedbugs, police say

Enraged that he found bedbugs in the Minneapolis apartment he shared with his mom, Michael Gallagher beat the 89-year-old woman over the head with a sculpture, smothered her with a pillow, strangled her and ultimately suffocated her to death with a garbage bag on Thursday, police said.
