Checking through all the AUs I've created for Elliott and my farmer, I had to choose the one that was more Elliott centric, which is nice because who doesn't love merman Elliott
Ok, story time. I commissioned @slowpoli to do this lovely art for me of Elliott and Beatrice back in September of last year. It had always been my intention to share the art after I had a little story to go with it. But uhh... that "little" story ballooned to over 14k words and took months to complete.
Then, it just so happened to fit so perfectly into the "Fourteen Hearts" prompt that I decided to wait a little longer, even though the lion's share of this story was ready to go by January.
(If you know me, you know what a feat that is. I am the epitome of that tootsie pop owl. Zero patience.)
Heck, this entire month has been an exercise in patience.
ANYWHO, all this to say that the story is just too long to post here, but I urge you to check it out on my A03 here!

It’s around the third letter that Beatrice suspects her husband is lonely. When Elliott stops merely describing the events of his book tour, and starts waxing poetic instead about his Joja value meals, she knows he’s sad. He only ever gets this descriptive when he’s trying to process some big feelings.
When the next letter is pure poetry, she’s convinced something is wrong.
Thank Yoba that winter on the farm means the world comes to a near standstill. Sure, there are still animals to take care of, but one call to Marnie and Shane gets that sorted out in under an hour. Bea figures that if she packs quickly, she’ll have enough time to meet Pam at the bus stop just as she starts her first run of the day.
Elliott had pinned his travel schedule to the fridge the night before he left, penning a small snippet of now smudged poetry on the bottom of the page. The blotch is entirely Bea’s fault, kissing her fingers and pressing them to his name every time she walks past, willing him to feel her love despite the miles between them.
“I’m coming, my bard. Just hold on a little longer,” whispering to herself with a soft smile, already imagining the way his eyes will light up when he spots her in the crowd.

At the start of his second year in the valley, Elliott is struggling with burnout. When he decides to go clear his mind on the beach, there he meets, Taren, his future muse 🩷
I decided to combine these 3 prompts into a comic about Taren & Elliott's first time meeting! It's also was a good way to catch up on these days I'm behind 🤣

A bit of context because the prompt is edging me to include it
Based on the clothing during Japan's modernization and its mutual influence on the western textile industry. These two garments are from a collection in Kimono: A Modern History by Terry Satsuki Milhaupt.
I've been wanting to draw SDV!Ren (my ocsona & farmer) in her cultural attire bcs I usually put her in a more traditional setting....well except here 😔 So I think this collection is perfect for their dynamic. Also, here are the references and some interesting passages from the book:
Taren has a very musical background, so naturally her and Elliott bonded over their shared love of music! Sometimes Taren plays along on her harp or guitar or she'll join him on the piano. Sometimes she just sings or they'll do a duet! Music is a huge part of their relationship!
A quicker sketch for this prompt because I'm behind a few days! Don't look too closely at the piano, it's really bad I know but I couldn't be bothered to make it look good.....
