"Why did you never came to visit me. You promised me--"
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
"Y-yes, yes, I will." she nodded, swallowing. "Bye Neal—"
Neal had to swallow around the lump in his throat. He hated saying goodbye, “Bye, Angie. I promise to see you soon.”
She blinked a few times, looking down at her feet before she turned to make her leave. It was hard. Her teeth were pushed into her lower lip, trying to hold the tears back as she walked back home, knowing she'd never come here anymore.
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
"I don’t think so, Neal." she mumbled, lips pursed together as she shook her head lightly. "But I have to go home now and finish packing. There’s not much time left.."
Neal nodded dejectedly, “Okay. Give me a call if I can help in any way at all, all right?”
"Y-yes, yes, I will." she nodded, swallowing. "Bye Neal--"
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
"That’s how most kids go, though. They’ll send a taxi to pick me up. You can come if you want to but you don’t have to.."
Neal nods, not really sure how the procedure went since he’s never had a friend get taken my social services before, “Wait— but can’t we drive you there?” He pushes, being the stubborn boy he was.
"I don't think so, Neal." she mumbled, lips pursed together as she shook her head lightly. "But I have to go home now and finish packing. There's not much time left.."
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
"You probably can but how’d you go back?" Evangeline wondered, shrugging a little.
"I could take a bus," Neal answered, his tone hopeful, "Or I could ask papa to pick me up. Either way, I don’t feel like it’d be right to let you go alone…"
"That's how most kids go, though. They'll send a taxi to pick me up. You can come if you want to but you don't have to.."
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
"Thank you." she whispered, holding back her tears. "And sorry for finding out so late, I thought you knew.."
"You’ve got nothing to apologize for," He replied, wishing he had a handkerchief he could offer Angie, "Do you think I could go with you later when they take you to the center?"
"You probably can but how'd you go back?" Evangeline wondered, shrugging a little.
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
"That’s good." she mumbled, hiding her face into his shoulder. "I can’t believe we won’t see each other for a very, very long time… It breaks my heart, really."
"Me too— but it won’t be that long. I’ll make sure it won’t." Neal kept his arms around her, "We won’t let you go through this alone."
"Thank you." she whispered, holding back her tears. "And sorry for finding out so late, I thought you knew.."
"Devlin! Dev-- OH! I'm alright! Are you there?"
"I’m downstairs. You okay?"
"Well, look;" she replied, raising her skirts. "My belly is getting bigger, see." she dropped them again. "And I haven’t had my period ever since we laid. I mean, I haven’t seen a doctor yet but that is enough evidence to say we’re having a baby." she started to doubt now, brows furrowed and lips pressed together. "And why are you sighing, aren’t you happy?"
Devlin looked down, noticing what she described and nodded. “I’m sorry, I am happy, but my reaction isn’t showing that. It’s just, we’ve never spoken to one another about this and now, well it is a good surprise, I assure you. I am, but before we jump to any conclusions, let’s make sure by visiting a doctor?”
She nodded, her lips pursed together as she looked down at her stomach, hands going over it, down to straighten her skirt. "I'm sorry." she mumbled. "For jumping to conclusions. I will call a doctor later and hope I'm not simply getting fat."
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
She smiled, a small chuckle escaping her lips. “I just hope you two won’t forget about me.” she told the other, holding him close to her.
"There is no way we’ll ever forget you, all right?" Neal said, his tone firm but affectionate, "I’ll take Kill out to visit you even if I have to tie him up and drag him to where you are."
"That's good." she mumbled, hiding her face into his shoulder. "I can't believe we won't see each other for a very, very long time... It breaks my heart, really."

"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
Neal unwrapped the present. Inside was what he thought to be a small book, but a second look revealed it to be a photo album. Neal flipped through it and just as he thought, it was filled with photos of their trio hanging out. He sighed, wanting to say something but then he noticed a tiny pouch taped to the back. Glancing at Angie curiously, he pulled it off and peeked inside and slid its contents unto his palm. It was a simple silver pendant with a charm shaped as a three-leaf clover. Neal took a moment to run his thumb through it before he exhaled.
"These are the coolest presents ever." He smiled. Then he shifts them all to one hand and steps closer to hug his blonde friend, "Thanks, Angie."
She smiled, a small chuckle escaping her lips. "I just hope you two won't forget about me." she told the other, holding him close to her.
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
He huffed a laugh despite the situation, “I was joking. And what? I never thought you were poor.” It wasn’t like he was any better anyway. Killian was the only one you could consider wealthy in their group of friends.
Neal watches as Angie places the package in his hands. He glances up at her before he brings it closer. It wasn’t heavy and its wrapping didn’t give him much insight as to what it was. He turns it over, looking for a spot from which he could undo the packaging.
"I hope you like it though." she smiled a little. "Just a little reminder, nothing special."
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
He bit on the inside of his cheek as the girl’s frown got to him. He couldn’t possibly turn it down… not when she’d already gotten something for him and Kill…
"Okay," Neal nodded, a sad smile on his face, "You know I can’t really say no. You could give me a box of matches and I’d take it happily…"
"You're not exactly making me feel better, I'm not poor. Or at least not that poor." she mumbled, searching for the package in her bag and handing it over to him when she found it.
"I don't know if you like it but, you knoe, I think you will."
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
"I’m scared." she whispered, close to mumbling. But I have a present for you. I mean, since I don’t have to pay school anymore myself, I have money now." she shrugged. "Not that I care about money."
"Angie, no…" Neal couldn’t help but protest, distress written all over his features, "If anyone should be giving you a present, it should be me—! I can’t say goodbye to you and then take the money you have too…" He wanted to say it was awfully sweet of her to get him anything, but he felt too guilty.
"..Neal, I already bought something for you and Killian, if you don't want it I can keep it myself but that doesn't make any sense.." she replied quietly, frowning a little.
"I came to say goodbye."
❝ Why? Where are you going, Angie? ❞
"I’m not sure but I’ll text you the address later. Killian has it as well. He says that when I go there as pessimistic as I am no one will like me. I think he won’t visit me."
"Of course he will," Neal answers automatically. He didn’t know what Kill said to Evangeline exactly, but not visiting a friend in need would be unimaginable, "I can’t believe this is happening…"
"I'm scared." she whispered, close to mumbling. But I have a present for you. I mean, since I don't have to pay school anymore myself, I have money now." she shrugged. "Not that I care about money."
"Devlin! Dev-- OH! I'm alright! Are you there?"
"I’m downstairs. You okay?"
"We’re having a baby."
Devlin gaped, not expecting this at all because Angie hadn’t shown any symptoms. Other than a few times, they hadn’t engaged in intimacy all that much, but maybe that was enough. It has been a few months since then so- He sighed and grinned, knowing he had yet to make a reply, “that’s great news. When did you find out?” Taking her hand, he rubbed his thumb over her blue diamond ring and pecked over her knuckles.
"Well, look;" she replied, raising her skirts. "My belly is getting bigger, see." she dropped them again. "And I haven't had my period ever since we laid. I mean, I haven't seen a doctor yet but that is enough evidence to say we're having a baby." she started to doubt now, brows furrowed and lips pressed together. "And why are you sighing, aren't you happy?"
"Devlin! Dev-- OH! I'm alright! Are you there?"
"I’m downstairs. You okay?"
He opened his mouth, already understanding what she is about to say but held off. “And the good news?”
"We're having a baby."
