It’s my job to protect any rare or endangered species while they’re being taken care of in nurseries. I mostly watch over plants, but sometimes I take care of animals. I’m not working just yet though. I still need to get settled in.”

But he was getting ahead of himself, and covered his mouth as if it would keep him from continuing to speak. "I'm so sorry. It's just that I get excited meeting new robots of similar type. By the sounds of it, we might see each other often." Leaf smiled at his new acquaintance. He was liking this plant bot. "That sounds wonderful. If you’re working at the parks, I’m sure I’ll be seeing some beautiful flowers."

Plant's eyes practically lit up. "I'm so excited! I'd love if that happened. There are so few nature-oriented robots around, after all." He tried very hard to keep his excitement to himself, though. "I'm sure you'll love it here. It's always so busy. And there's so much around, as well. So what do you do for a job?"

It’s more for health reasons, actually—but on a related note, what else could I eat?  Plastic?

.. I am only saying that if you refuse to eat animals for reasons of ethics, you are not doing any good by eating plants as a substitute, because both are ultimately harmed either way. Plants do not "suffer" because of their lack of a central nervous system, but they still recognize distress and actively work to keep themselves from death.

But. If you are doing it for your health, that is a different topic.

Well, I am a vegetarian, not a vegan. But if your Guugle-fu is good, you can find most anything on the internet.

I can look through my books, if you would like, or ask my caretaker if he’s familiar with such things.

I will mention that if you are doing so for ethical reasons, plants have feelings similar to animals', so you really should reconsider.

First of all, “peace an’ love” won’t get you anywhere. I’m all for quiet negotiations, but somebody needs to take charge or you’ll just get trampled by everyone else.

Secondly, drugs. It’s a stereotype, but it’s usually true.
