Blog Post #6: Playing the Part

My role for this magazine project is Beauty and Lifestyle Editor. I am responsible for reporting on new beauty trends going on at the moment. To be honest, I just want to model because thats what I specialize in its what I do, or social media. I am very very good at creating ideas for photoshoots and putting together styles for fashion editorials because of the amount of work I have done in modeling. I know a lot about what makes a photo fashion and what isn't working in a photo. However, I will make the best of what I was given. I am very into makeup and have a lot of knowledge to share in this category so I feel that this may be good for me. This will be a fun project I am just worried about how we are all going to agree on one idea if were such a big class. Everyone has their own idea of what makes something fashion or what is cool at the moment. This project will allow us to work together and create something unique together. This may give me the insight I need to go into starting a beauty youtube channel perhaps where I can educate people on makeup and skincare.

Metal Magazine is an australian indie fashion print media. Metal was created in 2006 in Barcelona, Spain. They also have a headquarters here in New York City. Metal Magazine features fashion, photography, and art from some of the hottest people at the moment. Metal Publishes this magazine 2 times a year and has this magazine for sale in over 25 countries. You are able to purchase their print magazine or even head to their website at metalmagzine.eu to view some exclusive content! International Magazine vs USA Magazines Post

L’Officiel vs I-D. Cover: The cover of I-D. magazine looks way more editorial. It looks like a photoshoot intended for the cover. The American magazine features celebrity Zoe Kravitz which is common for USA magazines to star celebrities instead of models on their covers now. 

L’Officiel vs I-D. Content and Editorials: The American magazine has a lot more story content based on celebrity news and events going on. The I-D magazine contains much more content pertaining to fashion editorials and full magazine spread shots throughout the magazine. There is much more content in the international magazine than the American magazine as well. 

L’Officiel vs I-D. Imagery: I much rather prefer the international imagery and photoshoots because they are right for the aesthetics going on this summer. A lot of things are focused around athleisure and high fashion looks. The imagery in the American magazine looks more catered toward people who are interested in celebrity, fitness, and music. The imagery of I-D helps me know immediately this is a fashion magazine.

L’Officiel vs I-D. Advertising: The imagery in the American magazine looks a lot more like advertisements and they are not as slick about integrating ads into the magazine. In I-D they have more full story spreads that help tell a story between advertisements. They do not feel as much like I am obviously reading an advertisement as does L’Officiel USA.

NYC STYLE DIARY

Expect to see a lot of fun prints and patterns this summer because every one is wearing them! Cheetah prints, florals, and plaids are taking over stores and peoples outfits in the city

Chunky sneakers and vans are part of the athleisure trend sneaking into peoples closets. Girls will be pairing them with skirts to dress them down and guys will be pairing them with Chino’s to dress them down!

Warm up to the idea of layering in the summer because it is a great way to style up an outfit for those rainy city days! Pairing t-shirts under spaghetti strap dresses also keep you comfortable and casual for days on the go! Remove the t-shirt at night for a day to night look!

FENTY Pop Up Shop @ The Webster in Soho, NYC 

Rihanna released the announcement of her Fenty Pop up shop to social media June 17. As you may imagine this was a big announcement to the fashion world because its owned by Rihanna and Bernard Arnault. Bernard Arnault is a French business owner and the Chief Executive and Chairman to LVMH Moet Hennessy - Louis Vuitton.

The store has items like sunglasses, shoes, clothing, hats, and jewelry. Upon arrival you will see the vibe Rihanna was going for was modern boho tribal. Her prints were cohesive and the showroom made sure to emulate that perfectly. 

Make sure to check out the Fenty pop-up store at The Webster in Soho! The final day of the pop up shop is June 30, 2019 and its perfect for Rihanna fans and fashion lovers alike!

blog post 2 - 2 fashion designers/past era...

Chanel and Fendi won’t forget about the prints that made them famous 100 years ago. In 1916 the first Chanel tweed suit was released, Chanel and Fendi decided to bring back this trend for Fall Winter 2019. In the fashion show black and white prints of tweed and color blocks are common. Their decision to bring this back was the sudden passing of Chanel’s and Fendi’s Karl Lagerfeld in order to pay tribute and bring out the fashions that started them. Fendi ended up taking inspiration from Karl’s years beginning in 1965-currently to pay tribute. Overall fashion is forever repeating itself and every season there is a designer who will take us back to our roots and remind us the beauty of fashion and how much it changes.

blog post 1 - favorite era

 My favorite fashion era is definitely the 1950′s. I enjoy Dior’s new look a lot and I think that this was a milestone in the fashion industry. Although Dior’s new look was pushed away at first due to the difference in fashion from the 40′s, once it took off it showed fashions beautifully. The full skirts, the short hair, the bold red lips made looks appear fancy and put together even though women would put this on to work from home. I prefer fashions from older times because there is more excitement in the pieces. Back then things were not as mass produced as they were today and you can see that in the beauty and uniqueness of fashion at that time. 1950′s fashion to me is very artistic and feminine which is something I like to look for when shopping.
