Tumblr’s at it again, thanks to the new European Privacy Laws. There’s probably nobody who will read this, but it pissed me off so much that I decided to make a post about it. (Ignore the weird language mish-mash, depending on your country the language might differ.)
OK, so many of us get this screen when we try to access our dash:
Realise how the ‘OK’ button is a nice, attention-grabbing blue? If you’re like me, you’re not exactly into reading a 100 pages document and tend to just click it.
My tip? DONT. Instead click on ‘Manage Options’ right next to it:
Now you’ll see this page:
Still pretty harmless, right? That ‘Accept’ button is looking really attractive right now. Instead, click on Verwalten (Probably something like ‘Manage Options’ or something in english) and you’ll get to this page:
Now that’s not too bad, right? I just switched all the buttons to ‘off’, because I’m jealously guarding my personal information and don’t want Tumblr to go off and do who knows what with it. Looks like we’re done! But wait: There’s a SHOW option.
When we click on that one, what we will get is this:
A HUGE list with OVER 300 ENTRIES of companies that can use your data by default if you’d just clicked ‘OK’ on that very first page. Coincidence that this list is hidden that much? Me thinks not. They’re all switched on by default, but I am still a petty bitch that doesn’t want to give out her data, so I switched them all off. All 300+ of them. There is no option to switch them all off at once, and even if you disable all the options above, the companies are still switched on.
(If you wonder how i got that number, I copied the list into excel and looked at the cell number. No way am I actually counting all those entries)
okay. okay. here’s how to get to the screen if you didn’t see it or clicked through. Go into the account dropdown, go into settings, choose privacy. The bottom thing is ‘cookie consent’. If you uncheck it, you get that page, at which point you can do all the handy things above.
but BEWARE: i did those, checked it twice, navigated back to the main page of it, navigated back to the lists, was satisfied that all were unchecked. Navigated back to the main page. opened to that again, and all of them were fucking on thank you tumblr x.x

This quiet hors keeps the company of a (relatively) benign forest cat spirit and its host of spectral felines. They are very picky about who they associate with and will often inflict minor curses on those they dislike of percieve as a threat to Catnap or themselves.

Comes across as a bit of a grouch, but really it’s just that he can barely stay awake most of the time and requires questionable amounts of caffeine to keep him going. Not sure if Acorn is real, or a sleepiness-induced hallucination.
Tumblr is now owned by a phone company, so it's stopped fighting for Network Neutrality
Yahoo’s sale to Verizon means that Yahoo’s sub-companies – Flickr, Tumblr and a host of others – are now divisions of a phone company, and as you might expect, being on the payroll of a notorious neutracidal maniac with a long history of sleazy, invasive, privacy-destroying, monopolistic, deceptive, anti-competitive, scumbag shakedowns has changed the public positions these companies are allowed to take.
This matters a lot. The previous fights for net neutrality were won in part with the support of scrappy online companies like Tumblr, whose CEO, staff and users worked together to send a strong message to Congress and the FCC about the importance of a neutral internet, free from ISPs who slow down your connections to services unless they pay bribes for “premium” carriage.
With Trump’s FCC set to slay Net Neutality, the internet is once again planning a day of coordinated action: on July 12, sites across the net will send their users to the FCC and Congress to demand that ISPs be held to a public service standard befitting the trillions of dollars in public subsidies they receive every year in the form of access to rights of way through our cities and between them.
However, Tumblr is not among the companies presently slated to participate, and sources within the company told The Verge that the company and its CEO, David Karp (once a staunch Net Neutrality campaigner) have been given orders to sit this one out.

Keep an eye on your ‘net neutrality’ posts guys. they may suddenly and for no reason up and vanish because the new parent company decides that they may not like what their new social media platform is announcing.
I don’t normally like to reblog stuff, but I cannot overlook something this important out of apathy. Companies like this provide us access to the internet, but they do not own the internet, it belongs to The People, Us. The internet is one of the few places in the world that isn’t completely dominated by money, where thought, ideas, art, knowledge, opinion and such are, or should be, free to flourish without the threat of corporate or government censorship and we need to fight to keep it that way.
As denizens of this place, we are at war with organisations like this, and we are losing that war because of apathy. I for one am fed up with the status quo, where we are little more than glorified slaves to corporations and governments who have no interest in our wellbeing. They were established to fulfill a need, to serve the people. It’s time they remembered that.

Teeny tiny dice bag prototype~
Made using viscose yarn and a 4.5mm hook, I think, it seems to have lost its size marker > .>
Gonna go ahead and refine this as there are a number of points I feel I could improve, but I did write down the pattern, so for those interested, it’s below the break!
For this pattern I’m using Weight 3 light yarn and a ~4.5mm hook, though this should work with a variety of different yarns and hooks.
NOTE: This pattern is written using UK terms, if you’re used to US terms, simply replace every instance of “DC” (double crochet) for “SC” (single crochet), they are the same stitch.
Terms:
St: Stitch
DC: Double Crochet (SC in US terms) (Eg. 5 DC = perform 5 Double Crochets, one DC per stitch).
Inc: Standard increase - 2 DC in each stitch.
Dec: Standard decrease - DC two stitches together.
