to the anon about the vday video: its definitely not just phanta that needs to take “accountability” - essentially if you saw it and discussed it, the general consensus is you should feel bad about even considering that phan and the video were real and take “accountability” for bringing it up when dnp tried to keep it hidden. i’m sure almost everyone on this blog (and the phan directory) had seen the video and i like to think we theorised and discussed it constructively while we had literal 15 year olds telling us that “it was a joke” and it will make “straight” dan and phil sad etc. it’s nice that dnp finally confirmed it is real and good for them but, honestly, i’m just happy we were right and we weren’t just conspiring over nothing??? phantaray was always such an open forum to discuss anything and that’s what made it such a great place!!! honestly i probably still have a copy of the vday video in my files somewhere lmao

are you going to address your role in the whole valentine’s day video incident now that we know how much emotional harm it caused them? i’m not rlly in the fandom but from what I’ve been browsing on tumblr after watching their video, you personally hold some responsibility there

I did play a role, yes. I joined the phandom in early 2013 and anti-phan was pretty much the norm back then after Dan had spent 2012 being pretty aggressively against any talk about phan and questions about his sexuality. I was instantly drawn to the mystery. Seeing one thing as being pretty obvious (phan being real) but having d&p and most of the phandom denying it led me and many others down a path to find some sort of evidence that we were being lied to. Kinda like a conspiracy theory that you just can't stop digging into.

Then i heard rumours about a video that was as close to proof that anyone had found. But we didn’t know if the video was sincere or some kind of prank video to fool us dumb shippers. So yeah i did allow speculation about the video on my blog, i linked to it, maybe i hosted it on the blog for a while, i don’t remember.

The purpose of Phantaray was to be a place where (almost) no topic was off limits and people could say what they wanted without being harrassed by anti-phans.

I understand why Dan wanted to stay in the closet, and i understand that digging into someones private life is invasive and wrong, even if the person is a public figure. I regret that Dan found the blog and how it must have made him feel. I'm sorry for the part i played in the whole thing.

I'm glad to see how much he's grown and I like to think we have all grown in all these years as well.

Hi Phanta :) I used to follow you religiously back in like 2013 when you could read the posts on here for hours a day. So my immediate instinct was also to get in touch after THE announcement. I still cannot believe they just dropped it like that and talked about... everything. I'm so happy for them, I really hope they find peace now. It also hit on a personal level because I was talking about it with my ex gf (turned bestie) with whom I went to TIT last year, because as fate will have it, she was a fan too and had tickets before we even met. And idk if my 17yo closeted, confused, queer self could hear all of this, she'd be pretty amazed! <3 Also shout out to the person mentioning the radio show. I had completely forgotten about the tiny chat days, what a wild time!!

Yeah it kind of blew my mind that they covered pretty much everything! Too bad they couldn't be out of the closet sooner but i understand their reasons after that explanation. If they weren’t involved with the radio show i bet they would have come out sooner. Trying to appeal to the general public is so different from having a specific online following.

Hey! Well yeah the blog has been pretty dead but i still use tumblr sometimes and casually watch Dan and Phil :D Hope you're doing good Scandi!

Do you think they're still together. Dan's recent tweets scream single to me. But why buy a house together? Maybe they broke up after the house.

Ooh what a plot twist that would be! I think they're still together in whatever way they have been for the last 10 years.
