Is anyone elses self insert a different gender from them irl? Not in a "I'm secretly trans but dont want to realize that yet" way but in a "I'm nonbinary/trans but my self insert is still my agab" way.

Like...my self inserts are all pretty girly and feminine but irl I am not...I'm nonbinary and ideally would like to be a bit more androgynous. I am somewhat closeted and no one irl knows that but like...I don't go out of my way to be feminine or follow gender roles.

I guess this might be because 1) I just like girly fashion (even if I'd never wear it) and aesthetics more and like designing feminine characters more 2) lots of my self inserts started from when I was in denial about being nonbinary and trying to suppress it 3) I just don't really see my self inserts as being me...or well they are separate from me in a way.

yeah I do this to an extent - the version of myself that I'm shipping isn't the exact same as my actual self, sometimes that version is a girl even though I'm not.

I think for me, when selfshipping, I'm creating a totally different world? so the shit I actually have to deal with irl isn't an issue. like I'm writing a character who doesn't suffer from dysphoria, doesn't feel connected or disconnected from their physical body, could be any gender or sex and be okay. they also aren't disabled like I am. my selfship stuff is an escape, not a commentary.

"Cinderella, you're as lovely as your name"

I guess I'm still in a Cinderella mood. Here's some new, and some old doodles I dusted off and finished.

The 1950 animated film always carries a really warm and lovely sense of comfort whenever I watch it. I'll always defend this characterization and interpretation of Cinderella - she's very underrated and a lot stronger than some give her credit for, due to misremembering the movie or ignoring key details about her.
