Razor tilted his head as he sensed the man’s mood change. Wondering if he had said something that confused him or something. Not saying a word as he continued to follow, still happy that he would see his family again. He wondered if they were so worried about him like he was with them. He would make it up to them with hunting more boars. Hunt so many that they wouldn’t be starving for days.
His smile widened as their destination there was close. He was so very thrilled. Relaxing even more, trusting this friendly man who helped him. Finally noticing the environment changed around him, his thoughts mostly only his family. Razor almost bumped into him as he stopped, looking up at him.
“You won’t come with me?”

The torii gate stood still and quiet, much like its master on the shoreline. Silently waiting for the outcome of the child.
His blue eyes narrowed some as the weather above the gate grew dark, and suddenly, the opening of the gate turned pitch black. The waters around it began to thrash about as if in a storm. And the lantern that hung at the top began to glow signaling to Thresh that the trial had begun.
The lantern that he carried on him glided to his side, the mist within it beginning to twist and turn before an image seeped through.
It was the boy.
Thresh watched in silence as he saw silhouettes of wolves dash across his lantern, the boy far behind chasing after them. The image twisted again and an uneasy red glow began to emanate from his keepsake.
He could see a struggle between the boy and the shadows surrounding him. They stood long and tall with malice intent spewing forth from them. The guardian worried for a moment. Thinking the emotions were going to take over, his fist tightened as the child began to fight, growing blind to the truth before him. However, just as he thought before, his innocence came to clear his clouded rage. Thresh sighed in relief as his lantern began to return to its normal glow. The boy was accepting the fate he was given. Though his heart ached, Thresh could sense the child’s soul become stable, and so too did the tall torii gate.
The opening of the gate began to clear, and the flame that was in the lantern atop of it had extinguished itself. The waters had also died down to its normal self revealing the child sitting still past the gate. The guardian’s smile was fond, but it saddened him to see the soul in such a grim state. This was normal however. A soul was hardly ever happy when it came to terms with its end. And though it hurt him to see it, it hurt him even more when he saw the souls become devoured by their emotions, and turned into an Azakana.
The lantern swung back behind its master, following him across the waters and past the gate. The guardian stepped around the small boy and stood before him.
“Mortality always comes to an end, yet the spirit you harbored lives on forever.” he then crouched down before him, a hand coming down to softly raise the boy's chin, “And you carry a mighty strong one.” he smiled. “Though your family is saddened by your death, know that they are proud that you carried their strength even beyond death.”
The little gesture was quite adorable for someone like him. Not expecting something so childish from the guardian of souls. While the other promised and explained that this was his true form, the noble remembered every little detail of him. Keeping an image in his mind to draw later in his journals, going along with several detailed writings of his experience here.
“How intriguing…..” A hand placed itself over his heart as if touched. “That truly warms my heart.”
He mused softly in response before he followed him. Walking along side him as he studied his surroundings. It was quite breathtaking to say the least. Gorgeous even. Slender hand would brush gently against the flowers, remembering the way it felt upon his skin.
“This home of yours is very lovely. It would be amazing to stay in such a place.” He sighed softly. “I’m quite jealous.”
Thresh watched the other closely as he touched the flowers ever so gently. Being soft and careful with their frailty. Yet, he also sensed something else. It almost looked to be a touch of longing. Yearning even.
The guardian smiled softly at the noble’s kind words, sticking a pin in his observations for the moment. “I thank you, although you should not be jealous.” he said in an honest and soft tone as he continued his walk down a pebbled path. “Though I take care of this place as much as I am able, its beauty never surpasses that fleeting wave of loneliness.” he finished glancing over at Vladimir. A faint smile gracing his lips as an orb floated past them. Followed by another, then another, then a few more.
Thresh’s gaze followed the wisps of their tails as they returned to the rest of their brethren who floated about and around a simple little building. Thresh continued his little trek, and followed the path that lead to a set of wooden steps passing a few zen gardens. The soft wood of the steps and porch were a comforting feeling to the guardian. A sign that he was safe and grounded here in his little minka home.
With a final step, the paper framed door slid open on its own, welcoming its master’s return.
“My home.” Thresh answered towards Vlad over his shoulder, “Come. I have tea inside.”
Vladimir couldn’t help but feel as if Thresh knew something deep within him. It was….very odd but he shook his head as he might be overthinking it. He need to keep his head leveled in such a place. The temptation of it….no he musn’t think of it. A place like this would never be for someone like him. He knew that. He knew that all too well from the path he chose.
A heavy sigh left him, leaving him empty inside. Though he still kept his facade to please his host. Distracting himself a little by looking at the decor they past by. Such a peaceful place for the guardian.
If only the other was able to see his garden. The many flowers he revived and collected throughout the years. His students often teased him about it. The only noble who has the biggest garden.
Vladimir found that he was once more close to Thresh. Being distracted in his thoughts he almost bumped into him.
“Tea sounds very lovely, my dear. Especially in this beautiful home of yours.”
The guardian looked over his shoulder at the noble, finding him a lot closer than before. He knew he wasn’t in any immediate danger with this human, but he still often found himself caught off guard with how, what was the word, invasive he was in a way. Not that it was necessarily a bad thing. He just simply wasn’t used to such closeness. No one would bother coming this close unless they were a lost soul seeking guidance, and even then there was still some space due to fear.
Thresh merely nodded happily, and led Vlad through his home. The doors slid open on their own with every turn they took, until they finally reached an open room. The floor like the other rooms was a soft tatami, and the walls held paintings of colorful landscapes. One would guess, of the realm he resided in. A black fan with gold etchings hung on one side, taking up nearly the entire wall, while plants decorated the other three.
In the middle was a short coffee table. A pillow on each side, and a tea set sitting atop of it with two cups at the ready to serve.
Thresh hummed as he made his way over to one side, kneeling down onto one of the fluffy pillows before picking up the iron kettle,
“So, what questions do you bring me today, Vladimir?” he asked as he poured the hot lavender liquid into their cups, “A troubled soul such as yourself always carries many.”
Starter for @vicis The sun shone through the cracks of a framed window. Its rays warming a figure that laid still within a bed of scattered clothes and sheets. The figure turned as he felt that warmth reach his eyes, the light becoming too much in the end, forcing him to stir awake.
He blinked a few times before slowly sitting up with a yawn.
It was morning already? Must’ve been a good sleep then. The man gave one good stretch before forcing himself out of his warm bed. His kimono from the night before, slipping from his slim shoulders and hanging from his waist by only a loose sash. It was a long night last night, one where he was too tired to change out of his ‘formal’ clothes. A whole day, booked with clients who came far for his company. Craving for his attention just as much as his soft touch.
He sat himself in front of a mirror, looking through the drawers of his vanity to find his comb.
A smile graced him once he found the small wooden tool, eager to comb out the tangles. He slowly ran the comb through his long and soft violet locks. Every now and then small clacks ringing through his luxurious room from the wooden comb accidentally hitting the two different sized horns that protruded from the top of his head.
It was quiet mornings like these that he grew so accustomed to, and how his day would often start. Wake up, get out of bed, brush his hair out, then get himself washed, dressed, and ready for the day. Though this was his usual routine, he did have some mornings where he wouldn’t wake alone. A stranger from the night before would wake with him sometimes. And though they were strangers to each other, he always welcomed that lingering company. It made him feel...wanted in a way. A different way that he wasn’t used to. Though sadly, those mornings were a rarity for him, and much like today he’d woken alone.
He sighed softly to himself, replacing the comb with his own delicate fingers; letting the strands of hair fall and slip through his claws.
A knock on his door disturbed his thoughts as a voice came ringing through,
“Tonight is showcase night, remember to look your best!” followed by the sound of footsteps walking away to the next door, repeating the message.
He hummed, turning to look at himself in the mirror, looking over his sharp yet feminine features.
Aah, I almost forgot about tonight’s event. He thought as he began pulling out all of his hair accessories and makeup from the drawers. Better get things ready soon. He told himself. Though the event took place later in the evening, it would take hours for him to get ready. Being a courtesan was no easy task, after all.
The town was always bustling with activity. Yells could be heard overhead from merchants trying to sell their wares. Either valuable trinkets, or different types of freshly caught game.
The streets were littered with people of all ages and types coming to or from these merchants, while others were simply roaming, wondering where to spend their hard earned pay. Would they want a fancy feast from an expensive shop, or a simple grilled kabob at one of the many stands that stood high on the sides of the streets? Did they feel like they needed a change in their fashion, be it for work or for an important occasion? Perhaps they seeked refuge in an Inn from the hot sun?
All needs were met here in this busy little town of Hiho, and all were welcomed to either partake or share their business. May they be human or demon, or anything in between, there was no judgement here. In fact, Hiho was known to be one of few successful towns that harbored both humans and demons. Most became ghost towns due to lack of business while others fell victim to civil wars. Hiho stood above and away from those problems and instead thrived off of its taboo.
Speaking of taboo. One building in particular at the most outer edge of the town, away from most of the friendly stores, stood out. From it’s colorful and intricate design, to the influx of people that were drawn to it. A building surrounded by others that catered to drunks and gamblers. A building that people would deem the focal point of the red-light district. A brothel with a kanji symbol dripped in gold. It read, Tsumi.
The sun was at its highest point now, and through a familiar window the demon from earlier was adding the final touches to his hair. Tied up neatly, it was held in place with a pair of cyan chopsticks. On one side, his hair fell neatly over his shoulder, while the other had a thinner lock of hair slipping through his floral headpiece that held another pair of jeweled chopsticks betwixt the arrangement of flowers and ribbons.
His bangs hung the same as always, though the longer ones at the sides looped down and around his long pierced ears to meet with the rest of his hair that was tied up.
Not too much changed with his face. His skin was always clear enough that pounds of makeup was not necessary. And his face structure, though it was sharp, was delicate enough that any would mistake him for a woman at first glance.
The furthest he would go with makeup would be for his eyes. Having them lined perfectly with different layers and shades of blues, purples, and pinks. And for added measure, a light pink stain for his lips.
Next, his clothes. A traditional kimono that he wore loose enough for a slit to appear at his knee, helping him move easier, and where the top half would hang comfortably around his naked shoulders.
Its design and colors match that of his headpiece. The base was a lily white, and the edges of the kimono were an ombre of plum and a dark violet, much like his hair. Splashes of blues were mixed within pink floral patterns, and all was tied together with gold that outlined fine little details.
This kimono was by far his favorite compared to the others.
Putting on the last bit of his accessories, the final ones were a pair of gold ankle bracelets that hung over the top of his bare feet, connecting to a ring around his mid toe.
There, now he was all done. With a final look in the mirror, he adjusted his headpiece, making sure it hung snuggly around his horn, then opened his door and left behind his room that he will perhaps be inside again soon enough.
The demon made his way down the stairs and past a few rooms. Ones that were either occupied already by some of his companions with clients, others with parties inside filled with laughter, and some still vacant or being cleaned up.
He wondered, where was he going to fall into today.
Rounding a corner, he finally reached the large entrance where people were lining up to meet the girls, and some boys of the brothel. Like usual, he paid no mind to it, just passing through to reach the main room where most of the workers would meet and chat with customers before their time was bought. Unbeknownst to him, catching a few eyes with his passing. Whether of envy or want, he wouldn’t know until his time was paid for.
The main room was huge. It took up most of the first floor of the brothel since it was where everyone gathered. The wooden floors were covered with pillows of all colors and sizes to make it a comfortable visit. And a stage was at the end where either courtesans would show their musical talents or drunkards would begin serenading the love of their life that would’ve met five minutes ago. Though those were entertaining, he preferred the first. Zoning out the rest just to hear the tranquil music. Ah, to just have that and some tea. It would be so lovely.
Finally spotting a free corner, he made his way over to it, settling himself down on a very large and fluffy green pillow.
It wasn’t long before he already had a couple of men at his feet, sitting beside him.
“Did you want a drink with me?” one asked while the other played with the hem of his sleeve,
“Gods, you’re the prettiest demon girl here.”
He chuckled lightly to himself, his nose twitching at the smell on them. It was clear they had come from the bar next to them, and also very drunk.
“Maybe one drink,” he smiled before turning to the other. A claw coming up to move the hair away from his face while gliding the claw down the side of his cheek “Considering you both have already begun without me.”

The spirit world was truly a remarkable place. Amazing even with the beauty it held. He was so lucky to be able to travel to and back without any complications. As far as he knew of. He would be back in his body after some time. Usually when he begins to have cramps in his legs.
Today he sat quietly under a large tree. Sitting close to the guardian of the lost souls, while he sketched. He wanted to keep visual records of what he saw and felt. There were a few pages of the guardian himself, but he hasn’t shown him those pages yet.
He snapped out of his concentration as he felt a small, light kiss. Blinking several times before he looked over to Thresh. A fond smile appearing on his features. The pencil now placed next to him, the slender hand reached for the other’s. Lifting it to his lips, kissing his knuckles.
“Do you require my attention, love?”
He cooed softly, eyes glinting. Leaning in closer to him, their faces so very close to each other. Whispering lowly against Thresh’s lips.
“I can give it to you.”
Thresh simply smiled, loving the feel of the others soft skin against his own. A feeling he would never grow tired from, and one that he always welcomed and if not, craved.
His voice now a tickle upon the other’s pale lips, “Perhaps.” he hummed sweetly as his other hand found the noble’s sketchbook, “Sometimes I do envy this book of yours.” he admitted finally pulling the book away and holding it up between them, ceasing any attempt that may have happened. The guardian’s smile had now changed to a coy one while his light pink ears flattened against his purple locks.
This was a new side of him. One that was slowly showing more and more when around the noble. He was used to being a tease in general, but a playful one was a different side.
Vladimir smiled, allowing his sketchbook to be taken by the other. His eyes filled with affection. Tilting his head seeing the book now between them. There were many rare things Vladimir did, pouting a little was one of them. Which he then quickly smiled to erase any signs of any pouting.
“Why would you envy it?”
Leaning closer once more to the one hiding those lips behind his book. A slender hand raising to place itself on the other’s thigh.
“Are you jealous of a simple book, my love?”
The guardian could feel his face growing warmer from the other’s advances. The touch on his thigh surprising him enough for his stomach to flip. And though it was brief, he did manage to catch a pout from the other before it was masked with that familiar smile he grew to love. He couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight, taking much enjoyment from Vlad’s suffering.
“What do you think, love?” he whispered through hooded eyes, as a clawed hand slid up the noble’s chest, toying with one of the smooth buttons, “I would much rather have those eyes of yours on me. Instead of that little book you carry.” he smiled mischievously behind that said book.

Vladimir blinked with slight surprise as the claw dragged lightly upon his palm. A small tingly sensation ran up his arm, halting as the tip of the claw left his open palm. Slender fingers slowly curling within his palm, as if to contain that sensation. Eyes finding it difficult to not leave the other. The noble had to admit that he had this allure that kept pulling at him.
His mouth opened slightly, but no words left as the other vanished before him. Blinking once, hesitating only for a few seconds before he moved. Stopping just before the wall, a hand slowly rising. Shaking his head, annoyed that he was wasting valuable seconds.
Stepping forward, the air rippling as he passed through to follow the other. This doorway of some sorts felt slightly dense, taking a deep breath to shake the odd feeling from his body.
The questions that filled his head to ask Thresh suddenly stopped. Seeing the one looking back at him. Scanning around as he walked toward the individual. Could he still be Thresh from earlier?
Pale eyes studied him so very thoughtfully. Maybe stared for a bit too long. Closing his eyes he let out a soft chuckle before he gazed upon the other.
“My, is that really you? Or has the one that led me here ran away from me?” He jokingly said. “I would truly be hurt if it is the latter.”
Thresh hadn’t even realized he was holding his breath until he saw the human’s figure emerge from the portal unscathed. So far so good. The air around them kept calm and held true with no shift occurrence. Seemed like the gate had allowed Vladimir entrance. For now at least.
As Vlad stepped up, finally meeting him at the top of the steps, Thresh felt himself grow small. The human had been staring at him for a while now. Was it because of his different form? Did it make him uncomfortable? With each question that presented itself, the collector could feel his cheeks grow warm. With his fair skin, and exposed face, it was a lot more notable when he’d become embarrassed, which in turn would make situations worse at times.
Thresh then smiled at Vlad’s little accusation that would chase away the worries he had. He shook his head as he answered, “I can assure you it is still me. This-” he then motioned to his new self, “is my other form. The one that I prefer to keep, however it is difficult to maintain outside my sanctuary. That is why I looked different before.” In the realm outside his home, he is forced to wear his demonic form. The one that everyone is accustomed to. The one that everyone feared and deemed horrid.
He pushed some of his now violet locks to the side as he softly chuckled, “I would not leave you behind, Vladimir. You have my word.” lifting a claw, he etched a cross over his breast, mocking a child’s promise that he’s heard so much about. He then turned on his heel, beckoning Vlad to continue following him, “Come. My home is near.”
On the short walk to his home, they passed many gardens. The small hills were riddled with a vibrant moss, and adorned with shiny pebbles and flowers. They’d even pass a few ponds with colorful marine life swimming away within them.
The noble takes the other's hand gently in his. Raising it towards his lips to place a kiss on the exposed wrist. Humming against it as his mouth slightly parted, teeth lightly grazing against the smooth skin. Wondering how delicious Thresh would taste.
@regalentempire
The collector hardly got a word in before he felt his face and ears grow suddenly hot. Anyone else nearby could have sworn they saw steam coming out of his perked up ears. "Er-um...” he wasn’t one to fumble over his words, but the feel of the human’s warm breath and fangs on his skin was enough to turn his brain to goop.
"I've seen many stars, but you....you seem to shine the brightest." (cosmic vladdy uwu)
@regalentempire (cosmic Vlad)
It was a cool evening on this day. One where the crisp air sent chills through the many trees causing them to shake off their remaining leaves. And it was visible that it would have the same affect on the collector as well. His body grew cold from the chill that ran through it, but was quickly rid of as the tea that he gingerly sipped on warmed him entirely once more. He was seated on his veranda, atop a pillow for his comfort as he peacefully watched over the vibrant souls of his children gliding and playing around the tea gardens. With every dance they did, it brought a smile to their guardian’s face. So tranquil he was, that he hardly noticed the new aura that had popped up all of a sudden.
Thresh felt his body tense for a moment at the voice, yet it quickly relaxed once that tone reached a certain familiarity. A friendly voice that he hadn’t heard for so long. He’d recognize that courting voice anywhere. That being said, his body warmed up once again, although, most of the heat rose to his cheeks and ears. And embarrassingly enough, it wasn’t the tea’s doing either. He glanced over his shoulder, the grip on the warm teacup tightening at the sight and nearly burning his fingertips, yet he didn’t let up. Because to him, the small pain made him realize that this was real, and he wasn’t dreaming. His dear friend had returned. The realization made his smile all the warmer through those blushed cheeks.
“And to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit, my dear friend of the cosmos?”

The noble followed his gaze, settling upon the gate. It’s presence was still unsettling. Assuming that was where his home was, then it shouldn’t be at all bad. He would hope at least. Things were much more different here and he would have to be wary with where he places his foot.
Turning his gaze back to Thresh who was now looking back at him. The light in his eyes was different. Possibly an idea that had dawned on him. slightly tilting his head to the side as he listened. Pale eyes glancing over to the gate once more before going back to him.
“Should I be worried, dear?” Feigning a look of worry before he chuckled lightly. “I’m only joking.”
Turning his frame as he began to walk toward the gate. Pausing to turn his head, extending his hand toward Thresh.
“Now. Shall we?”
Thresh could only hope there was no reason to worry, and simply smile towards Vlad’s attempt of a jest. This was new territory for the both of them. Vlad’s reason being obvious enough, but for Thresh, he never once brought a ‘living’ creature through the gates before. He wasn’t entirely sure what the outcome may be. Guess there really was only one way to find out.
He watched as Vlad took the initiative, and began moving first, although what caught him off guard was the pale hand stretched out to him. This human really was a peculiar one wasn’t he?
Thresh chuckled softly to himself as he walked past the other, however, he lightly dragged his dark claws over Vlad’s palm, feeling every crease and fold with the tip as it slipped past, “Lets.” he said with an amused hum as he stepped through the gate, disappearing completely through the invisible wall he came through earlier.
On the other side, Thresh ascended the floating marbled steps. Their smooth obsidian surface mirroring their master and the shift within his body. If Vlad had followed through successfully he’d notice that with every step the collector took, his body changed all the more. The wild silver hair had become tame and violet, whereas what once was violet skin, was now light and fair. The clothes he wore had also shifted to a lighter more noble taste where gold had taken over and mended the torn and jagged edges. Even the lantern that followed had changed. Its dark and pointed look; now smoother, and white as a lily with blues and gold.
As Thresh reached the top he turned in search for Vladimir. The red in his eyes retreating towards the back, leaving his purple irises to their own as they scanned for the human.
At the mention of being shown his family, Razor couldn’t help but perk up with joy. If he was going to help him, he will follow. He wasn’t a terrible person like those hunters. They’re bad people.
The boy nodded and followed the other. Keeping pace easily with him while eyes were looking around. The forest they entered was very different. Coloured differently too.
“Thank you.” He said after a few minutes of silence. “Thank you for helping me.
Thresh gently smiled over his shoulder at the little praise, making sure to acknowledge the child with warmth before it changed to one of concern as he returned to face forward. Poor thing, he couldn’t help but worry. This spirit was only a child. A small innocent boy who had lost everything in the blink of an eye without realizing. However, it was that very same innocence that had Thresh believing he’d make it through.
As they rounded a corner, two tall dark pillars were slowly fading into view. The colorful foliage of the trees hiding what they connected to at the top.
The collector masked his grim thoughts with a smile once more as he looked back to the child, “Almost there, now.”
Slowly, the trail they were on opened up and the dirt path they walked came to an end, but began anew as crystal clear water. Sprouted peach colored blossoms gently floated amongst the calm water, illuminating the area around them with the lit candles they carried. Like stepping stones, the eyes of guests would follow them until their gaze were fixated on the dark chained torii gate that stood tall in the middle of what looked like a vast ocean. Thresh came to a stop at the edge of the water knowing that this was as far as he could go.
“Your family is through there.” he stated calmly before turning towards the child. “You must go the rest of the way on your own.” Thresh lowered himself to the boy’s height, and with a warm smile he added, “Be strong. You carry the heart of the wolf after all.”
The little boy’s eyes stayed on the other, watching his every move. His mind processing the words that were spoken. Unable to fully understand as he didn’t want it to be true. There was no way…
“Final…home…”
Repeating the word, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. This wasn’t home to him. Not his real home with his own family in Wolvendom. The thought saddened him, all alone without them.
“Last memory?” He whispered. “I find food for lupical. Find men who want to hurt family. Must protect….”
Razor wracked his mind on what his last memory was. It was hard to remember as his mind was still cloudy. A hand rose, placing itself on his head. He must protect them. He had to find them. He had to. Maybe he was just too far from him and are in danger.
“I must find them. Find family.”
Thresh frowned, pitying the child before him and the words he spoke. He was fighting himself. Fighting the truth that was clear as day to him, but clouded to the child. Thresh knew that if the boy kept this up then it would surely lead to his downfall. He’d seen it happen many times. Where the souls would let their grief and anger consume them, and turn them into horrid creatures. Seeing it saddened him, almost as much as it angered him.
He released a heavy sigh through his nose, accepting the fact that he could not save the boy from himself if he continued down this path. The most he could do was show him the truth.
“Come. I can show you your family.” he said before walking away, returning to the forest in the distance.
