The Phantoms part 1
How did we get here fourteen complete strangers gathered together for one common goal. none of us asked for this. not even sure what this is or what lead us to this point. however here we are working together to right the wrongs of this corporate society one wrong at a time. I am Archer and this is our stories.
I graduated high school about two weeks ago and that is when the shit hit the fan. I had finished four years of boarding school. no I am not one of the rich kids either. my mother who is a single parent worked 3 jobs to put me through school. I worked every summer and every cent went to this school. but I made it to graduation. it was supposed to be the beginning of grand adventure into adult hood. I had no idea how wrong I was as to what kind of adventure that was about to unfold.
when I was called to the stage to give a speech on be half of my class I was looking into the audience looking for my family and my best friend Jack. Jack and I had been best friends since childhood he was a year ahead of me and graduated from public school last year. yet only my mother was present. while I was giving my thought provoking speech about looking to the future and how bright it was going to be in the back of the auditorium I saw this suspicious looking man who some what looked familiar.
after the ceremony was over and everyone was busting out their cameras and taking pics with their families and friends. some of my class mates asked to take pictures with me and I obliged. one of them Mae who had a crush on me since freshman year was there as well with her nose in a book “On The Heavens” Aristotle. she was a nice girl I just only ever saw her as a friend. while getting our picture I saw the strange man lurking around the crowds of graduates. he was about 5′10 average build wearing jeans and a suit jacket with a hood attached to it. my mother had called out to me and I lost sight of this man that had sparked my curiosity.
After all the bustle and theatrics of the day it was time to head out I had said all my goodbyes and we had finished packing my moms 1995 blue dodge caravan. my mom gave me a hug and a kiss and told me how proud she was of me. we got in the van it was a good drive back to Mansfield. my mom and I joked and sang beach boy’s songs while we drove my mother loved them she over played them when I was a kid that I now have them all memorized. it was nice to have alone time with my mother. half way home mom had to stop at a rest stop.
when we arrived at the rest stop my mother ran to the restroom. I moseyed over to the vending area I liked to get my snack on. while I was staring at a bag milk chocolate hard candies out of nowhere a dagger clashed through the glass and candy flew all over the vending area. I dived to the ground for cover. as I looked around for who had thrown the dagger. over the way I saw someone covered in dark garb aiming another dagger ready to throw it at me. when the man from my graduation appeared and killed the man in the flash. he looked at me and said “grab Mary and go get out of here he was not alone”.
