𓇢𓆸 Ex Boyfriend Sakusa Kiyoomi 𓇢𓆸
You and Sakusa Kiyoomi were amazing at first. You met through mutual friends from his team at a party, standing against the wall quietly as you both make fun of how stupid everyone is acting. You both had a mutual fondness and respect for each other and even established a routine based on your schedules, which allowed for time together between his volleyball practices and your busy work. You loved his drive and attention to detail when it came to himself, and he always enjoyed your passion for your work, even when others may argue that office work is bland compared to his lavish volleyball career. You knew about his germaphobia, and it never bothered you at first. Even with his germaphobia and busy schedule, you were being as understanding as possible.
That was the easier part until it wasn't.
The hard part was handling his lack of affection. You knew he was a bit of a germaphobe, and it was fine at first until you felt like it was a burden for him to be affectionate with you, always needing to wash up or sanitize before he would even consider touching you, and the smallest messes seemed to throw him off. Soon, the beginning of your relationship seemed so far away. No more flowers during special moments, less time for dates with him rising in fame, fewer I love yous, and he seemed more adamant about being clean, sometimes commenting on your apartment being messy even after you've worked a grueling shift. Eventually, you reached your breaking point one day. You had a horrible time at work and really needed support. Despite the obviously horrible day riding on your shoulders, you were still op. When he came over after his practice, he didn't comfort you until you took a shower. That did it; the cold attitude of disgust overshadowed the need to comfort and support you as your boyfriend. You felt distant, like wanting affection was gross. You were gaslighting yourself, saying that the relationship can work without the need for such affection. However, that mindset left you feeling isolated in your own relationship, feeling unwanted. You didn't hate him, but you knew this wasn't healthy. When you broke up, you simply and honestly told him.
"I love you, Kiyoomi, but I don't want to feel like being with me is disgusting to you. I deserve to feel affection, not like I'm a virus whenever I want love from you."
He watches as you leave, with a heavy heart and a gross conscience.
♡ Boyfriend Yamaguchi Tadashi ♡
It took time to heal. Leaving Sakusa was hard after dating for that long, and you found some nights to be lonelier than others. But you knew what you two had was not working out, and staying would've hurt more than now. You threw yourself into your work and slowly began to recover from the reality check you had. Eventually, you opened yourself up again with the help of some friends. You were helping with a project that involved collaboration with an electronics company. That's where you met Yamaguchi Tadashi, the sweetest boy who had just finished university and was working as a simple office worker there at the electronics company. You two spent countless nights working hard on the projects. He would bring you coffee, remembering how you'd like it and snacks, saying it was to keep you fed until you could get a proper meal. For a while, you thought he was doing this only for the good of the project. But, along the way, he started going out of his way for things. He started buying bento boxes and leaving them on your desk during late nights so you had a meal. He even bought you the specialty drink from a cafe you raved about!
After the project was completed, you were a bit sad not having a reason to see Yamaguchi anymore. He felt the same way, so he reached out, saying how he would love to get to know you more outside of work. You agreed, and the two of you went out a few times, learning all the cute quirks about him. He's utterly shy, loves soggy fries, and is dead set on making you as happy as possible to see you smile. It was no secret to anyone how much he adored you. When he asked to be your boyfriend, you were worried but still willing to give it a try. Being with him was not only healing but absolutely full of affection. He still brought you snacks and coffee when needed, dropping by during overlapping lunch breaks to go to a nearby cafe, and he's even sent flowers to your desk one day because he was too busy to visit one week. He was so attentive, so affectionate, and most of all, you felt loved. You weren't a burden, but more of something he dedicated his life to cherishing. One day, you woke up to the smell of fresh coffee being brought to you. Yamaguchi sits down next to you on the bed, handing you coffee and gently holding your hand, leaving a soft, unprompted kiss on your lips.
"You are the best person I've ever met, Y/N. I get butterflies whenever I get to kiss or hug you every time we see each other. There isn't one day I want to go by without you knowing how much I love you."
You cuddle close to him that morning, feeling his warmth surround you. It never felt cold anymore after he came into your life.
𓇢𓆸 Ex Boyfriend Kageyama Tobio 𓇢𓆸
You and Kageyama Tobio were the it couple. You were both playing pro on your respective teams, rising in fame and popularity in the volleyball world. Despite that, you both made it work in the best way you knew how. You took time to be romantic, having dinners together, buying gifts, and you even moved in together into a small apartment. At times, you and he even trained together on the court, him setting up for you while you practice your spiking. Sometimes you two would get competitive and frustrated from practicing, but you both always knew it was left on the court. News channels headlined your names together, posting on how you two would be on the next line to be married.
It really did seem like that for a while.
After getting drafted on the Japan national team, Kageyama had changed. He was stronger, but he became more calculated, more critical, and worst of all, he became an even crazier perfectionist. Practicing together soon became tense. His words cut deeper than before. He gave less advice and more judgment about your timing, your form, and your skill. It made you feel small, even though you knew you were extremely strong as a player. Problems that used to be left on the court were brought home, and soon the tension grew. If you flubbed a spike, he would grow annoyed and not talk to you at home for the night. If you tried to critique his sets, he got defensive, saying he had it right, just needed a spiker to follow through. He was less of your boyfriend and more of...a tyrant. You couldn't even breathe in your own house anymore. It was like volleyball was all he could focus on, as if you were another player rather than his partner. After one extremely bad practice session, he came home frustrated, worse than ever. It was even harder for him to accept not being able to pull off a set that day. When you tried to ask him about what he wanted for dinner, he blew up, commenting about how you think about eating with you after how badly the drills with each other went, and how you needed more practice. It's one thing for him to be upset; it's another for him to snap at you again like that. You had had enough. You broke up with him not much later, frustratingly packing an overnight bag.
"I'm not gonna be with someone who only focuses on volleyball and brings those frustrations home. I don't deserve to be belittled for messing up your sets when I know just how hard I work to be a great athlete."
And with that, you slammed the door and left, leaving him with his head hanging from a heavy crown on his head.

♡ Boyfriend Miya Atsumu ♡
The breakup was rough. News lines went wild, publicly reporting on your breakup, and reporters added their own speculations as to why the suddenly tight relationship grew sour. You didn't care; you just needed to move on. You went on a short break from your training, and some grew worried whether or not you'd come back into the spotlight. The few people who knew the situation comforted you the best they could, including family, teammates, and friends, both separate and mutual. Among them was Miya Atsumu, someone who has known both of you for a while. You two were great high school friends, and he was the one who introduced you to Kageyama. Hearing about your breakup hurt him mainly because you were crying over a guy he introduced to you. Made him feel horrible. What made it worse was how Atsumu looked at you with yearning in his heart, silently wanting you, even now. He kept that quiet all this time because you loved Kageyama. You two were a couple that seemed perfect together, and he didn't want to ruin it. He convinced himself that being in your life was enough. He can still see you smile, even if it's for another man. His yearning for you only grew over time, and seeing you in tears after the breakup shattered him.
After all, Atsumu has always been in love with you.
A week or so later, he knocked on your door. You open it to see him holding a bottle of wine, some groceries, and a supportive smile. The two of you go to the kitchen, pouring some wine as he looks around your place. It's barely decorated, bought last-minute after moving out with your boxes still everywhere. He took a few things out of the kitchen box: unused pans and pots, meaning you've just been having takeout or nothing at all. So, he made you something, nothing fancy, just pasta, but it was better than takeout. You sit on the counter watching him. The two of you don't talk about Kageyama; you just talk like normal friends as he cooks, occasionally passing things over. The two of you had dinner and wine together that night, and it brought you a silent comfort you never thought you needed. Or rather, this is something Astumu always did for you. Ever since high school, he has always been there as your support, never judging you for making less-than-ideal choices, and always there when you needed someone to be without hesitation. Eventually, the topic did end up on the breakup, causing you to tear up and become upset. Atsumu's heart shattered, seeing your glossy eyes and heart aching, wondering what you could've done differently. He doesn't say much, but his actions do. He pulls you in and hugs you, softly whispering in your ear about how you were amazing, how he was the problem for pushing you away, and such. You clung onto that comfort, the buzz from the wine slowly hitting both of you. That's when Atsumu's yearning took over. He softly looks at you with the same yearning that's been festering for years. All the times he comforted you, cooked for you, complimented you, were all ways of him silently hoping you'd feel the same way too. It was about time he became honest.
"He may love volleyball more, but I love ya' the most... Would it be so bad to give me a chance, to show ya' how much better being with me can be?"
You didn't say anything, but the soft smile and gentle holding of his hand already said so much. You can always trust Astumu, even with your heart.
𓇢𓆸 Ex Boyfriend Ushijima Wakatoshi 𓇢𓆸
Ushijima Wakatoshi is what many people expected: a gentleman, driven, and strong both mentally and physically. The two of you started dating not too long ago after meeting at one of his games not too long ago as a trainee under Iwaizumi’s watch. You two started to get to know each other, and sooner or later, he confessed to you after a practice one day. Nothing extravagant, just a simple “I like you, romantically”. Some may find it off-putting, but it was Ushijima you were talking about. It was something you’ve learned to expect. He was what you described as predictable. He followed the same schedule and routine most of the time, making it easy to guess where he was and what he was up to. But he still managed to carve out time to come over and take you out. You’d mostly end up going to a fancy restaurant together as a date. It was the highlight of your week, working so hard at your apprenticeship, then ending with your boyfriend wanting to spoil you with a nice dinner. It was everything you could ask for in a relationship. Even with his stone-coldness, you loved him enough to keep holding on.
But somewhere, everything changed.
After a year or so of dating, the stone-cold demeanor was no longer something you could tolerate. You were patient, hoping he would ease up and slowly get warmer, but it didn’t happen. Ushijima remained the same stone-cold exterior he’s had. Something about that hurt, the fact that he didn’t treat you like the two of you were dating. He didn’t really show affection even after that year. It was mostly you initiating; every hug, every kiss, every hand holding. Even the times you sleep over, he always starts the night with a confused question, like why you needed to if you had a lovely apartment. It was as if he didn't understand what being in a relationship meant. It became suffocating being in a relationship that didn’t seem like one. You were a person who wanted affection, even just a bit. But, from the looks of it, you wouldn’t be getting that. One night, he came home late from practice. It was your anniversary night, and you had gotten all dolled up and ready, even made dinner. But he still came home late. When you confronted him, he struggled to meet your gaze, saying it seemed like a natural milestone that you didn’t need to celebrate. You’ll have another anniversary soon. You broke a little inside. Anniversaries are important, well, they were important. He didn't even compliment you on how you looked, something you took hours putting effort into for him. You called him out, got frustrated and upset, and prayed he would show some kind of reaction. But all he did was apologize and try to move on, saying that having love for each other was enough. But it isn't, not for a man you've been dating for so long. You were tired of being the afterthought, of having romance in your own relationship being an unnecessary thing. You were human, you wanted to feel…wanted. You took your things, the meal untouched, and walked past him, saying it was over. When he tried to stop you, you only stared at him.
“I’m sorry, Ushijima. But I can’t make a relationship work with someone who treats me like just another person in his life.”
And with that, you walked out, leaving him feeling colder and ironically lonely and guilty for taking you for granted.

♡ Boyfriend Sawamura Daichi ♡
Getting back into the swing of things took time and was a process. Trying the dating pool again seemed so daunting, always nervous about whether you’ll get treated the same way. You spent many nights walking around to clear your head. It was peaceful, and it helped calm you down whenever you thought back to Ushijima. One night, it was particularly late, and you were caught up in your own thoughts. You were walking past a bar when a group of men came out, obviously drunk. They began harassing you a bit, catcalling and such. It wasn't until they followed you down the street and got really close that you started to get nervous. One of them grabbed your arm, causing you to struggle and yell at them to let you go. Soon, you can hear a loud commanding voice, and someone’s arm gently wraps around you. That’s when you met Sawamura Daichi. He was nearby on patrol until he heard the noise, literally a knight in shining armor. You thanked him kindly as he checked on you. You can feel the heat rise to your face as he guides you to his patrol car and drives you home. When you got home, he walked you to your door, smiling nervously as you thanked him again. Maybe it was the moonlight, but you left that man gobsmacked, speechless. So much so that he handed you his number in case you needed help again — emergencies and such, right?
Let’s just say, you didn’t use the number as an emergency number.
The two of you messaged often, almost every single day at all hours. You two talked for so long about your day and your interests, getting to know each other properly. You noticed his warmth, his kindness, and most of all, his charm. He never hesitated to compliment or praise you for something that happened, and every time you saw each other in passing, he always said hello and how beautiful you looked. He was a total gentleman and the biggest simp for you. One day, he gathered the courage to ask you out. Not in a text or anything, but at your door. He came by with flowers, chocolate, and your favorite boba tea from this high-end cafe. He shuffled nervously in place before asking you if you’d want to go to dinner at a new restaurant that was opening. He was blushing and hiding his face behind the flowers, waiting for your answer. It was a no-brainer for you; you wanted to go with him. A few days later, he picks you up from your place, dressed in a button-down and nice jeans with a dark jacket. It was hard to tell that he was a nervous wreck before. As soon as you stepped out, he couldn’t help but gawk at you. He stuttered, going on about how breathtaking you looked and how he couldn’t believe you said yes to going on a date with him. You laugh and joke about being the lucky one, but honestly, you really were. The restaurant was beautiful, the food was amazing, and his attention was all on you. He held your hand gently as you two talked and enjoyed the music, getting to know each other beyond surface-level questions. He made sure you were comfortable, even giving his jacket to you. It was romantic. He was romantic. By the end of your date, he held your hand at your door. The same place where this all started, with the same nervous look he had before. He looked at you like he didn't want this to end just yet. He gently held your face and whispered.
“Thank you for trusting me. I’d love to do so much more for you in the future if you’d let me Y/N. I’ll give you all that you want and deserve.”
Your heart swooned a little. You can feel the affection and sincerity behind his words, not just emptiness. You held him close, knowing that he was the right guy, he was affectionate.
