Shock yourself into living life. Bright face, peppermint, daylight, striking outfits and cold showers on drowsy days. Read difficult books and make notes in the margins. Write something in your messiest handwriting. Stop running your fingers over the flaws on your skin and paint your nails an ugly colour. The sky outside is brilliant even when its grey. Think about a perfect day and then do it. Wear black. Wear lipstick and no other makeup. Do things despite your feelings. The internet is the perfect place for numbing your thoughts but it also holds almost all knowledge. Learn. Enjoy everything you can, whenever you can. Don’t stop. Life is never quiet when your mind is in constant motion. You are life. You can use its full potential. This is the meaning of self love. Enrich every aspect of your self.

experiment goal: to determine whether smarties are an effective tea sweetener
hypothesis: smarties will sweeten the tea, but also introduce unwelcome flavor profiles due to their flavoring
procedure: procured one cup (≈12 fl oz) of Barry’s Tea Gold Blend black tea, hot. added 2/3 of a single roll of smarties candy (10 candies). wait for candies to dissolve, then stir well. tea will be sampled after stirring concludes.
addendum: control group was used. control sample consisted of one cup of the same type of tea, sweetened with white sugar. results will depend on the relative tastes of the control and smarties tea
results: smarties tea was significantly more bitter and less sweet than sugar tea. additionally, the smarties failed to dissolve in the expected manner, and when stirred, ended up breaking down into particulates that refused to dissolve.
conclusions: because of the chemical/structural makeup of smarties, they do not function well as an ad hoc tea sweetener because of their reluctance to break down. it may be the case that crushed smarties would work better, but this experiment was intended to study how normal, uncrushed smarties would work as a sweetener
Crystals bloom through liquid sodium acetate like flower petals, changing it to a solid in a matter of seconds.
You trigger the change by ‘seeding’ the super-saturated solution with a chunk of solid sodium acetate. Click to see how on YouTube.
How To Get A Job Fast As Hell
@owenabbott
Apply to a job, wait (1) day, then call. Give them your first and last name. Tell them you submitted an application and that you’re very motivated to find [Enter field name] work. Let the conversation lead you wherever it takes. Be very polite. Say” thank you for your time, I’ll be looking forward to hearing back from you.” Rinse, repeat. This is to force them to be looking out for your application.
When you get to the interview, shake their hand firmly, tell them your first and last name.
Describe your experiences as “ two years transcription and data entry” if you have a desk job interview and “ [however many years] costumer service, retail and stock” for your retail jobs.
Don’t use job “ buzz words” I stg they hear them all day. Say things like, “ I’m detail oriented and am very good at taking instruction.” “ I would like to work for a company with integrity and I feel that [ company name] would be a good fit”
When they ask you if you have “reliable transportation” say YES. don’t tell them what kind of transportation, just say yes. (if you don’t do this, you wont get the job , I’m telling you right now).
Research the company. Know what they do, why they do it, how OLD the company is. WHERE it was founded, and what kind of position you’re intending to apply for.
When they ask you “ give us a situation where you had to blah blah blah” Make one the fuck up. Make yourself sound good as hell, and like you put your company’s needs slightly above the customer’s needs, but make the customer happy.
If they ask you about being outgoing, Say you “like to focus on your work so you can concentrate on doing things right” (which buys you out of having to act friendly all the time)
Questions for after the interview:
1. Does this position offer upward mobility?
2. Do you enjoy working for the company? (if you’re not interviewing for a temp agency who will send you anywhere)
Then, shake their hand, Ask them to repeat their name (REMEMBER THIS) say thank you for your time, wish them a nice day and leave. write their name down outside if you have to, just remember the fuck out of it.
AFTER your interview, send a card directed to the name of the person who interviewed you (I’ll give you them) that says “Thank you for the interview, I appreciate the opportunity. have a great day” This shows that you have an understanding of professionalism, and will have them thinking of you kindly (or at least remembering you) when they’re shuffling through the choices.
DO NOT tell them you just moved to the city over the phone. In person, tell them you just moved to the city. Make it sound like the only reason you need a job is because you moved. Not because you’re desperate.

I’m saving this.
This helped me get a job
Throwing up the hacks for y'all
for anyone who might need this
All of this is really good advice -
My addition would be to find out the name of the interviewer you’re meeting with before hand and pepper their name while you talk throughout the whole interview, but not too much and I emphasis the part about shaking their hand, thanking them for their time and saying their name when you do it
Word of the Week: Elefantenrennen
Few things are as annoying as being stuck behind a truck on a highway – with no way around. Germans have a unique word for one such phenomena.
The German word Elefantenrennen translates to “elephant racing”. But this strange German word has little to do with elephants.
“Elephant racing” occurs when one truck tries to overtake another truck on the highway with minimum speed difference. This results in a blockage of lanes – making it challenging (or sometimes impossible) to pass the large vehicles.
Like elephants, trucks can be massively sized, take up a lot of space and keep you stuck behind them.
An Elefantenrennen can cause slow-downs and traffic jams when there are many vehicles on the roads. In fact, Elefantenrennen is even illegal in Germany (that is: trucks overtaking trucks at “low speeds” is illegal). That doesn’t stop it from happening every once in a while.
If you’re stuck behind two racing elephants, the best thing you can do is slow down and hope the race ends quickly.

Today Cam disappeared from the lab for about two hours (holding with his computer and saying “I HAVE TO GO MAKE SOMETHING” as he left), spent the entire TA meeting on his computer, and finally came back in the lab at like 130p laughing and showing everybody this. I NEEDED TO SHARE.
Also: this is legit the way Cam speaks in his everyday life. I wish you could all read it in his voice.
